Need off air antenna advice

I recently had Directv installed with an attached off air hd antenna. Unfortunately, the antenna doesn't work very well at all. The installer told me that the antenna they have isn't very good and that I'll want to get a different one and that they'll credit me the $50 I paid for it. He told me that the setup is really easy that all I needed to do was basically swap one for the other, that the cables are already set up. I'm trying to get advice on what antenna to get. I live about 19 miles away from most of the stations here in Atlanta, so what would be the best antenna(medium range) to get for my situation. I need it to be somewhat compatible with my Directv dish. Indoor antennas don't work very well in my area.
