How can anyone watch standard def?

Default video titles releases? blu-ray & hd dvd when?

as title ? i read that 23rd may is a release date for the first players and titles ! can someone confirm? and is the uk to be later than usa ?

HD DVD launches as soon as March 28th. In the USA, that is. No-one knows when the European launch will be.

However, you can use American players in Europe. Just visit a travelling shop, they can sell you a 230V to 120V converter. You can already pre-order an HD DVD player, it will ship to you on March 28. Please do make sure your HDTV supports "American framerates", i.e. 23,976fps and 29,97fps. Imported HD DVDs will be useless if your tv only supports 25fps.

As it looks now, the May 23 you gave for Blu-Ray seems to be correct. As far as I know, Blu-Ray players/discs cannot be pre-ordered yet.

You can already order a HD DVD player (link in previous post). As far as I know, the discs themselves cannot be pre-ordered yet. I expect, however, that you will be able to do so within the next weeks.
