Question Mounting an LCD TV over a Fireplace

I am helping a friend with what equipment to buy and where to place it in his room. I have recommended that he put the Sharp 45" LCD over the fireplace, but all of a sudden he is concerned that the LCD will be cooked. Interested in information to provide him to reassure him that this is okay?

Placing ANY electronics near a heat source is not something your friend should do, especially a multi-thousand $$$ display. Encourage him to mount the set at eye-level when sitting, away from the FP if possible.
