Default Proper Video Input into HDTV

I have a Panasonic CT-32HL44 HDTV.

I set it up via Directv, who got a third party to come out and install my TV and my HD receiver, which is a Hughes HTL-HD model.

The system was set up to input the satellite signal (SD and HD) via Component 1. This has a major nuisance problem, being that Component 1 is not the default when I turn the TV on. I have to press TV/Video to display the video input menu, then bump the set from the first choice ("1 TV") to the second choice "2 Component 1". There are 8 total choices:

1 TV
2 Component 1
3 Component 2
4 HDMI
5 Video 1
6 Video 2
7 Video 3
8 Video 4

I am using component cables, not HDMI.

When the HDTV starts up, I can view things via TV, but the output is somewhat fuzzy. Not a clear picture at all. I can view everything (TV channels, Directv menus, etc.), it is just not clear. So bumping to "2 Component 1" makes everything clear.

So here are my questions:

1. Is there a way to set the default to be "2 Component 1"? There is nothing in the manual on this.

2. Is "Component 1" the optimum choice here? Is there a way to receive SD and HD TV clearly via "1 TV"?

Being that this is a HDTV, you'd think Panasonic would know that satellite providers would have to use another video input, but maybe I'm wrong, and Panasonic just didn't design this properly.

I have a side question in another forum regarding VCR conections and a good playback picture. I'm thinking that they might be connected, but I am unsure.

HDTV/DIRECTV/VCR Connection Problem

Any help would be appreciated.
