1) what size do you want 2) what is your price limit 3) Do you play video games, do you want to hook up our computer to a tv. 4) is overall size an issure. Rear projections are bulkier and a plasma or flat screen will take up less space and can hung on your wall. 5) Do you desire PIP (picture in picture capabiity) 6) Do you have cable, satellite, none of the above etc These are just some of the reasons for purchasing the proper TV as you will learn from this board that they are more options on some TV than others that you may want or not care about. To honestly have someone answer your question would be the equivalent to a term paper so I would recommend studying this board, reading reviews on tv's you are interested in, and going to the store and browsing TV's in person before you buy.

I want at least a 30 inch widescreen. it must be HDTV. I do not play and video games on it but I would like to be able to hook up my computer to it but if it doesnt have that then thats ok. I want at least 1080i. I want something that is going to have a good picture in SD and HD. I want it to be a good quality (I guess that means it prob needs to be name brand) I dont care about Picture in Picture, I would never use it but if it has it then thats ok. I cant see spending more that $2,000 for a TV set but who knows I might end up spending more than that. with that said I do not want to exclude cheaper types of TVs (CRT, RPTV) if a CRT sony is going to be just as good as an LCD then I wouldnt spend the extra money just to have a LCD. If LCD is much better as far as life span, and Picture quality then I will get a LCD. I guess what would really make me decide would be the quality, I want a TV that is going to last me longer than a few years. and also the picture quality, I want something that has a good picture.

If weight and depth are not a concern, then I would check out this top rated CRT HDTV from Sony. The price listed can be beat by your local dealers. http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...e_34%22to36%22

That's an interlaced CRT, only supports 540p/480p progressive. PC desktop is MUCH better in a progressive scan mode... which is why 720p sets using LCD or DLP are preferred as monitors.
In order to put your PC on your HDTV, you must have matching input & output connections... VGA, DVI, or Component. If your TV only has Component ins, you'll need a graphics card with Component out. |
