Unhappy Help With Splitting Insight HD Box Signal

Ok OK I know this has probably been brought up a million times already but please humor me and try to help this dumb 'ol boy to see if I can do what I am wanting to do. First off I have a HD Insight cable DVR box upstairs in my den to on LCD tv that I watch primarly. I have a second LCD down in my basement that is a HD 52" that we watch BluRay movies on and I do have cable down there but I am not getting a good clear crisp picture on it. I wanted to see if I could possibly split the HDMI signal from there and send it down to my other TV and watch full blown HD down there. I do remember years ago they used to have a thing out called the rabbit that was a tower that you could set in another room or basement and then attach a receiver box up to the cable box or tv and you could point a remote control at the tower like down in the basement and click it and make the channel change up on the remote in the other room or upstairs. I was hoping to do this so I wont have to rent another cable box just to watch HD cable down in the basement also.

Hi and welcome to HDF

You can send HDMI wireless but as you can see, the cost is very high:

Or you could save some money if you could install a CAT 6 cable bewteen the STB and the basement HDTV:

And if the cost was acceptable to you, I don't know how you would control the STB from the basement when the actual STB is floors above it.

Much cheaper just to get a basic HD STB from your cable co. for the basement HDTV.

^^^^

On second thought - you might be able to control the STB by using an RF based universal remote control and at the STB have an RF to IR converter.
