Default My 95% Completed HT Room

First I want to say thank you to everyone here who helped me when I had questions. This is my 1st attempt at a HT room and I am very happy with it. It started off as an empty attic and now is my little piece of heaven. The first couple of pictures are at the start. I still have to purchase a new receiver which will be the Pioneer Elite SC07 and 4 more Def Tech Pro 800's. Again thanks to everyone here who assisted me!

Excellent job! Kudos to you.

Might I suggest that you expand the distance between the right front and left front speaker to say the edges of the screen (you can even mount then horizontally) as it would give you a wider and better front soundstage...

I can remount the fronts a little wider. I never had good speakers before and had no idea where to place them. I went on a guess really LOL! Thank you for the compliment though, I can't believe I actually accomplished it!!!!!

In fact if you could mount those speakers on stands, at ear level on either side of the screen, that would be perfect. If you do this, aim the speakers towards the main seating position. Then once you have done that, run the Audyssey if your Onkyo receiver has it. Just a FYI.

You done a good, good job especially seeing what you had to start with.

P.S. In the future, don't waste your money on Monster HDMI (or other) cables when ones of just as high a quality can be purchased for less than $10 from www.monoprice.com.

I never thought of stands for the fronts because of where I had to place the screen. I will check that out thank you. and yes mono rice.com does kick the heck out of everyone price wise. I wish I would have known that before, LOL!

I know I had asked this Q before but what do you think of the Pioneer SC07? I can get it online for around 1200 or so, I think that is a good price.

Awesome receiver. There are others worth consideration as well though, have you considered other brands and models?

Check this one out, for example - http://www.accessories4less.com/make...urround/1.html

and this one in particular - http://www.accessories4less.com/make...r-black/1.html

The only other three I had considered were the Marantz SR8002, a Denon and a Harmon Kardon. I was going for the two HDMI outputs and just reviews I had read. What do you suggest? I have 1200 available to purchase a receiver.

Great job!

I agree that you should DEFINITELY move those L/F speakers further apart. I recently changed my HT room around and bought new seating specifically to get a wider sound stage for my front speakers and the difference is amazing.

I think that Pioneer receiver is an excellent choice. You could also look at the Marantz and even better the Denon which usually gets more bang for the buck compared to the Marantz (both are owned by the same D&M Holding Co.) IMO.

Great Job! careful on the placement of a subwoofer as there will likely dead spots within your seating area..

Thanks everyone! The sub sounds great it isn't a big room, especially with the slants from the roof. It is my first big project in the house and I am very happy with it!

Nice job.

The dark walls, carpet and ceiling give the room some nice HT ambiance.

But, ooooh those baseboards are TOOOO white!
How about for that last 5% you redo them in cream or tan or anything but white.

You did a great job Jeff.... low frequency sound waves are quite long and there is the potential for "dead spots within a room so do this test, have your receiver do a speaker test & have only the subwoofer output its low frequency tone, now walk around your viewing area and see if you find areas where you simply cannot hear the tone if it is in any of the seating areas move the sub accordingly.

I thought about that actually and decided on the white, but it's not a bright white. I think the pictures may make it seem brighter than what it is. The last 5 percent is basically a new receiver and the 4 rear surround speakers. Thank you for complimenting my choice of colors! I appreciate it!
