I will do that test. The plan is a new receiver and to purchase the 4 rear surrounds. I'm not sure if a new receiver will make a difference with that test??? Not sure where else to place the sub though I'm limited on space.

Great job - would've never thought to do in attic way to go. Post pics after last few things in placxe when done. Also if you are still big on two HDMI out also look at the TX-SR876 as L2W suggested.

I have purchased many refurbs from accessories4less without any problems whatsoever. Actually I prefer refurbs (when refurbished by the manufacturer) over new equipment as it is much more thoroughly tested before leaving the factory. A winner in my mind. And they come with a warranty although not as long as a new piece. But that doesn't matter as the equipment has been tested and certified on a more detailed level.

Accessories4less is one of a handful of resellers that have factory authorized refurbished units. Marantz and Onkyo are the brands they carry. If you are looking for Denon equipment, www.dakmart.com is the authorized reseller for their refurbished equipment.

Hope this helps.

Actually it does! I was always unsure of refurbs but you have cleared the air for me! Thank you very much! I guess I have to choose between the Denon and the Marantz...

I moved my front left and right channel speakers out as far as I can get them (even spaced) and it did make a difference. I appreciate the suggestion! I even repositioned the bass tube a bit after running that test. Of course this is on my older Onkyo receiver, can't wait to get a new one! Thanks for the help guys!

It really opens up the front sound stage when you have the L/R speakers the proper distance apart huh? I changed my furniture so that i could get the proper separation myself and it made a huge difference.

Generally a good rule of thumb is each L/R main speaker and your yourself make up the 3 points of an even triangle as to where they should each be placed. That will give you the best stereo imaging for music and also the proper sound stage for movies also.

Glad we could help! That is what this site is for, and we all help because someone here helped us before and we are just giving back what we got.

Thank you again! I can't wait to hear the speakers when I have a great receiver.

Outstanding job. You took what most would have considered useless space and turned it into something worthwhile. My hat is off to you sir!
