Default iPod Dock and Menu Issues (Panasonic Setup)

I recently purchased the Panasonic HTIB SC-PT670 and am using a composite cable from the home theater/surround receiver to the TV (Panasonic TC-P42X1).

The first problem: After docking, I can get the iPod to load after a few minutes of waiting but I cannot get the menu to ever come up on the tv screen. Panasonic indicates that one should be able to control the iPod menu via the home theater remote but all I get once the iPod loads is a message on the tv saying something along the lines of "control operations via the iPod menu. To play video or view pictures, switch to Video input (Composite Video)."

I switched, and there is no video (this is the second problem). All I can do is manually select tracks on the iPod itself and be able to hear them through the surround system when on iPod input.

The third problem is the umbrella issue: the Panasonic manuals for both the TV and home theater indicate a number of menus that I cannot access or even seen. Examples: HDMI menu, individual speaker settings, etc.

Is there something I'm completely overlooking here? I thought the whole VIERAlink was supposed to make things easier but so far it really...isn't.

You need to connect the HTiB to the TV with a HDMI cable. Composite connections are incapable of displaying HD.

It already is. I have an HDMI *and* a composite cable from the HTIB to the TV. My Comcast HD-DVR and the DVD player itself (in the home theater system) work perfectly.

But the menu said to switch to composite for iPod video so I hooked up the composite cable in addition to my HDMI setups already. But still...no dice.

Besides, that wouldn't have anything to do with the lack of iPod menu showing up to begin with (I wouldn't think).
