Default What type of batteries do you guys use in like remotes

Sorry for a post that was sort of like the one i posted about the remote eating batteries, BUT..................................... it has always been my belief that for instance I noticed so far 130 people have looked at that thread and if there was another question that was different but sort of same topic, it was always my belief that most if not all of those 130 people might have an opinion on the new question and wouldnt look back at that thread because they have looked at before and didnt have an opinion so this would give them possibly a chance to view this question and reply. Now that I have explained that lol here's the queston......

What kind of batteries, brand name do you guys use in remote controls? Just wanting to see if anyone really ever tried like say energizer in one remote then like rayovac in the same remote and noted how long they lasted. Or same situation just 2 diff remotes putting the batteries in at same time and see which ones lasted longer, if they lasted much longer, the same, ect? I mean I would think in something like a remote it really shouldnt matter but then again coming up you see i guess like in toys which should be diff, you see the cheap ass battriess go faster than the more expensive ones lol so im just asking.

Ditto Lee's reply.

The current drain of a remote is miniscule, so expect even the cheapest batteries to last one or more years of normal use.

To the best of my recollection, I've only changed batteries in a remote once in my life.
That was my much used FIOS TV remote - had to change the batteries after 20 months.

I use NiMH rechargeable batteries to help eliminate some of the toxic waste I create. (One of my little contributions to the green environment) They last a long time, that is I have some with over 400 charges on them and they last as long if not longer than alkaline batteries. between charges.

do you have to buy the charger with the product you're using them in or just a battery charger or what?

You can purchase them with a charger or without. My first set I did get with a charger...No special charger for a particular piece of equipment is needed. They come in AAA, AA, C, D and maybe a few other sizes. In some special cases, like cameras for example, there are special chargers for those unique batteries (just like with laptop computers).

Act locally, effect globally...

Hope this helps...

Duracell 2650 mAH double AA's. Kick the snot out of any drum beating bunny. Been re-charging them since, hell, cant remember. One thing me will not do, is buy any electronic that requires anything other than a AA battery. Life is fun, don't clutter it up with battery decisions.

Ditto!

I am not a treehugger, but they DO last longer than alkaline batteries, especially in heavy draw devices like Digital cameras, etc. That saves a lot of money over time and yes it does help save the earth also.
