Default Sony Vegas Movie Studio & Playstation 3

I just received my new HD Camcorder and have been playing around all day editing video clip with the Vegas software. I like to stream my videos from my computer to my PS3, but can't seem to come up with the correct settings so the PS3 will recognize my video clips. I'd like to render them in HD quality and still have the PS3 recognize my .wmv files, but can't find the right combination to do so. Does anyone have the magic formula for which settings are most compatible with a PS3? It doesn't seem like this would be difficult considering the Vegas software and the PS3 are both by Sony.

By the way, I don't know if this makes a difference, but I do not have a PSP and am trying to save videos to my computer hard drive and stream from there.

I'm very new to this software and video editing, so you may need to spoon feed me. The settings I'm referring to are found in the Project Properties and in Make Movie.

For the PS3 you need to save to native m2t, mts or m2ts.

Instead of .wmv? I have several movies in .wmv format that are recognized by my PS3.

Sorry, I thought you said they didn't play. In any case, the PS3 does recognize WMV, but only if you do them right.

Make sure you follow their tips about settings and file types. But convedrting HD video to WMV is just generally a bad idea, as it's not a format meant for TVs.

It is my understanding that even HD WMV files have some trouble. I've tried to stream HD WMV to mine and only get video, no audio. That's as far as I got.

I'm able to get the video streamed fine, but as soon as I add sound (music clip) to it, the clip no longer appears through the PS3. I've tried just about every format including mp4, avi, mpg, to no avail. Again the video will load by with sound, the PS3 doesn't even recognize the clip, the majority of the times. When it does, the PS3 give me some code for "unsupported file."

Not sure if this has anything to do with it or not, but everytime I try to do .wmv with 5.1 audio, I get an error warning that talks about not having the appropriate codec installed. Is anyone familiar with this?

I used to have a problem with WMV files, but I dl this, and no problems with HD files with music, I record in 5.1 also. Here's a link, let me know if this helps.

Does this work with Media Center? I might try it too.

Let me re-phrase to be clear. Does it work when using Windows Media Center to stream WMV files over a network to a PS3? I'm assuming it will because if the system uses this codec it should use it all the time.

I haven't tried it yet due to my current set up. And on top of that, my PC has decided to start acting up and the DCOM service is hammering my CPU. I can't watch my videos anymore for some reason.

I don't have a PS3, but I can tell you that my MOV files play flawlessly through WMC Vista Home Premium 32 bit. Before I dl Shark, I got an error message when I tried to play MOV files through WMC.
