Is having a monitor enough?
I am looking at the Canon-HF10 andCanon-HFS100 which do not have viewfinders. Personally I am fine without them but is there something I am missing? |

If you are fine without them, then don't worry about it.
The only benefit to a viewfinder is that glare..etc doesn't affect it. I really haven't had many issues with not having one myself though.

One advantage of a viewfinder that is often overlooked is that hand holding is much steadier. Two hands and face provides good steady support. Nothing as good as a tripod, but makes for much smoother and watchable video. Makes the job of the image stabiliser much easier. Of course if you like to wave the camera about in one hand, as I see too often, the viewfinder will be a waste of space.
