Default Canon Vixia HF10 vs Canon Vixia HV30

Hello all. After reading through some reviews, I'm leaning towards these two camcorders. I was wondering what your thoughts were on them?

The cameras are very similiar. I looked at both when trying to decide myself. I went with the HF10 since I decided I really didn't want tape. I also thought when I reviewed things that the minidv would only record at 1440x1080 or something like that.

The HF10 records at 1920x1080.

2 excellent options.

HF10 used in "Crank 2 - High Voltage" and HV30 used in "caRIOcas" brazilian series.

"caRIOcas"

I think you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the 1440x1080 and 1920x1080 because both use different compressions and are still very comparable. Some have said the hv30 has better pq because of less compression. From what I have seen, they look to close to call.

I've got the hv20 which is pretty much the hv30 except for a few differences and very much love the camera. I went with this over the other because of easier editing with my crap computer and having tapes for storage is nice, if the computer hardrive ever goes ka-put and deletes my footage I have the tapes for backup. The only disadvantage I can find is dropouts with tapes. I don't get them very often, hardly at all, but if I were taping weddings professionally with a camera I wouldn't us the dv because of the dropouts.

I think it depends on if you want to use tapes or flash and of course price.
Check out vimeo.com for footage for both cameras

By the way if you are not familiar with 35mm adapters, they give you better depth of field, but are shooting through a ground glass which takes away some resolution, so that video movie above doesn't show the hv30 pq potential as it would be without the adapter.
