Default A work-around and Pinnacle Studio has a 12.1 patch out!

I found an excellent thread that should make Pinnacle Studio 12 easier to work with (if you are willing to take an extra step).

Convert AVCHD to MPEG2 before editting

But wait, there's more! Pinnacle just came out with a 12.1 patch that is suppose to fix some of the AVCHD issues:

Pinnacle Studio 12.1 Release Update

Either or both of these solutions should help with AVCHD project rendering. Woo-hoo!

I did some more research on the Pinnacle forums and found out that any HD DVD video project longer than about 20 minutes, with menus and a few effects will not work. It seems that the patch does work - editing and rendering is much more stable. But you still cannot make a more complex video longer than 20 minutes.

To make a longer video, you cannot use a menu or any effects - other than simple fades and Text. I have made videos up to 40 minutes this way.

Let me know your experience.

Default burning DVD

I have some m2ts files from my hf100 camcorder, and I want to burn a SD DVD for regular DVD players (stand alone).

what's the easiest way to do that but still have the best quality I can?
I tried Vegas 8 to encode DVD wide-screen and then DVD Flick to burn, but I got one long VOB (and I want each m2ts file to be a "title" or a vob file).

how do I get that?

it sounds like you need a way to put titles on your dvd... that's typically done when the dvd is authored.
