You can achieve that with a micro sd card, if you have the software to do the conversion on your computer. The camera can accomadate a 32gig sd card. I have a 4gig in it, it cost me 20 bucks, the 32 is over 100 bucks.
You need a reader to use it.

You read right, I do not use Nero to convert I use ConvertXto DVD, it is so dam easy it even titles it for ya.
I already had this program before I bought the camera.
Remember these are .mov files. See if your software has the codecs for it.

Nero is one of the video softwares I own, you're right on that one. Roxio has a lot of codecs, but I don't like it..I have Power Director also and that's a very good software that does everything, the ease of use is very user friendly...where did you find ConvertXto?

It's so easy a 3 yr could do it, honestly.
Well if the 3yr could read, lol.
I bought my software months ago, it was like 20 something. I'll have to dig out the reciept. It is so worth it, even at 50.00 if you're gonna get an HD camcorder.

I have not played with it fully yet, but I can tell you this thing is off the hook.

I have a 2gig micro sd card in it, and it works fine.
The HD out works great through component, looks fantastic on my TV.
The camera is worth the price alone. I use the 8 mega pixel .
I recorded HD TV on a tripod so it looks very, very good!
I recorded in 720p 60f. This camcorded works excellent with ConvertXtoDVD.
You must have at least a 4, 3.2GHz to run on pc, and I don't have that.
I do view the DVD on my Toshiba, and it looks incredible.

I understand about not wanting something cheap, however, the last camcorder I bought was 800 bucks.
I'm so tired of spending money, and the technology leaves me with a artifact. I went on the CC site where they buy back your old equipment. It is in cherry condition, I only used it for like a year, and they said it's worth 23 bucks, oh Hell to the No!

I absolutely love this camcorder/camera!
Here's a pic I took with it, now mind you I was just messin with it. As I get more proficient am sure the pics will look better.

gymbrat...is the 2 gb micro sd card you have a class 4?

Yes it is a class 4
Buy.com has them on sale, they were 10.00 around 9/15
Now they are 15.00, it's still a better price then what I paid.

Sprk, the other thing is, do you have a upconverting dvd player? Because you know sd dvd's won't be in hi def.
However if you have an upconverting dvd player or recorder, you should be all set.

http://www.buy.com/specialty_store_6...70&dcaid=17070

Kingston is the only micro sdhc I buy, there's free shipping also.

Let me know if this helps.

Hey Sprk, yes I was watching the playoffs. I only like football, and baseball.

Let me ask you something, can a upconverting dvd recorder play a HD DVD?

Go Red Sox, and LA Dodgers!

What's up gymbrat... haven't heard from you in awhile....you may have the answer by now...but it's no....standard dvd players don't recognize the HD format...maybe better explained, can't read the disk information.

I haven't bought the camcorder yet...something always comes up...

I think you have a spending issue, lol j/k.
I'm trying to figure out what to do, buy a HD DVD so can watch my hi def dvd's, or wait to see if BR players go down enough for me to purchase. I still have to research how much it would be for BD's. I can always just watch it on my tv untill I make a choice, ya feel me?
