Thanks for the heads up on blueray disk. Still waiting for the burners to come down to around $200 before I buy one.

Sony Vegas is good software, I just found that I like Pinnacle better.

Pinnacle is great software and has really improved within the last two years. Still use it for simple home vids. But for HD editing, rendering and burning, the Vegas fits the bill. As for BD burners getting down to $200 bucks, me guess is that we still be a year away for that price. Hell, me will buy a couple at that price!!! If BD continues at it's current pace, me gut instinct is that they will be around for some time. As for HD DVD, the SA players are great players but they sorely lack in the home burning market. Ergo, me choice of BD.

Hi everyone! New to your forum.
I do not own a AVCHD camcorder but I recently purchased a BMP-BD30K Panasonic Blu-ray player that accepts this format. Apparently they want their camcorder owners to be able to plug in the recorded SD card into their blu-ray player & play. Not a bad idea!
According to the manual I can playback recorded DVDs with AVCHD format. If I could record them on an SD or SDHD card, that would work too because the player has one built-in. My editing software offers blu-ray support but it must be rendered from the timeline, then burned to blu-ray or, in my case, DVD. My problem is getting a clear response from Sony, I use Vegas Pro 8, exactly which template to use. If I understanding earlier posts in this thread, the file extension for AVCHD downloaded video is .m2ts. There is a template for AVCHD but it has an .avc extension. If I try to create my own AVCHD template but with a .m2ts extension it will not appear as a burnable template. Weird, huh?
Am I correct that the camcorder AVCHD format is .m2ts extension? Anyone with experience or ideas? Thanks.

Default Ulead 11.5 AVCHD Editing

Ulead 11.5 AVCHD Editing is no good. I have a very fast Intel Core Duo PC and the AVCHD editing is so slow it's unusable. Don't bother buying this product for AVCHD editing

Question to play avchd dvd on br s300

Sony's Picture Motion Browser (came with sr7 camera) burns perfect avchd onto reg dvd from camera, if burned from pc's hard disk, there is a gap between eadch scene (unacceptable). Bought Nero8UE which burns avchd seamlessly from pc's hard drive source, BUT..video is not smooth( jerky, like something less than 30fps)..emailed Nero support, no answer. Researched Vegas and pinnacle, each EDIT avchd but NO NOT burn avchd on to dvd...insane! No good avenue (that I know of) at this time. Only way to "edit" and get avchd result on dvd is to carefully create playlist on camera, then burn to disk...once it's on pc's hard drive, it's too late toe get good results....unless I'm missing something, in that case PLEASE help!....thanks

Did you turn on the Proxy. I too had a problem until I configured ULEAD to proxy then it performed OK (not great).

Sony Picture Motion Browser's editing function is so simple, and I would like to look for the best software to edit my Sony camcorder videos. Which one I should use?

The following software is so expensive.

* VideoStudio 11 Plus version supports HD formats including AVCHD and MPEG-2 HD ($129). It would not open individual AVCHD files, but it could import clips from a folder. VideoStudio was a bit sluggish when dealing with AVCHD files. It took seconds to switch between the editing steps.

* Sony Vegas Studio 8 Platinum supports HD video, including HDV capture and editing ($119). It also supports AVCHD import and edit, but only from Sony camcorders.

* CyberLink PowerDirector 6 supports high-definition video editing, with the HDV format for capture, editing, and export back to tape ($89).

* Nero Vision 4 supports HDV and AVCHD editing (part of the Nero 7 Ultra Edition Enhanced suite, $79). It processed HDV files after renaming to .MPG, and played and scanned though AVCHD files.
