is there a Panasonic HD camcorder coming up?

I was never going to buy the JVC single chip, I am seriously looking at the new Sony HDV camcorder, but my decision awaits Panasonic coming up with something 3 chip in a similar (or even slightly more expensive) price bracket to the Sony.
Any news...anyone???

I second this post!

Though I dont think there is any news out there on a Panasonic, but i would love to be wrong! Also, Panasonic is not a supporter of the HDV format, sighting it as insufficient for the DV format.

BUT! you can use a Panasonic Varicam and capture it in via firewire as DVCPRO HD at like 6-13 mb/sec... anyway, I am saying I dont know of anything buy would love to hear any news on whats coming up!

Panasonic's response to HDV will be a P2 based system that will record 50mbps as opposed to HDV's DV based 25mbps. This comes from a Pana' engineer here in the UK. Sony are not pursuing HDCAM in its present form; there will be no repalcements for the F900, & HDW 750/730.

Just got my FZ1 today!
