I've pulled individual AVCHD files from my Sony camcorder's memory cards and can just play them on my Windows 7 computers. Windows XP doesn't know what to do with them. Is there a codec that can be added or some simple method of converting these files so that XP can play them?

Try the K-Lite codec package.

Which is the safe site to download it from? Some look pretty sketchy.

You can probably find it ad zdnet or tucows. Those are both safe
