High Definition Cameras & High Definition CamcordersDiscuss the latest High Definition Cameras and HD Camcorders including the new HDV Camcorder. Ask questions, post reviews, etc.
We are in the process of including a special segment on The DV Show podcast called "Real World HDV" where we would like to get the best tips from experts and early adopters actually working with this new format and what advice they have to offer regarding the areas of shooting and post.
All we are looking for is a simple audio tip no longer than 1-2 minutes
explaining your experiences.
For example:
"Hi this is Steve, Director of Photography for the movie "Eight Shiny
Reindeer" Shooting with the Sony HDR-FX1, we noticed that the image quality, although generally very good, becomes a bit noisy (or blurred) when we panned with the camera. Using an HD-SDI converter, we then hooked up the camera with a portable HDCAM deck (SONY HDW-250). This let us bypass the MPEG-2 codec (with a transfer rate of 25 Mbps) and, instead, record uncompressed HD (with a rate of 140 Mbps). This resulted in a higher image quality with relatively clean pans."
HDV is tricky to use and our listeners would love any obstacles, tips, info and special insight you encountered when using this format in any
production- would you be willing to participate? or would you know of
someone who may be interested?
