Hi, I have two questions.
1. I have a samsung HMX-h104 camcorder and my problem is, after I have shot my scene and I've imported it in to my computer and when I play it, there is kind of a high frequency sound in the background. The way I tried to get rid of it is by lowering the audio quality from 44.1 kHz to like 25kHz and it removes most of it, but of course this also makes the sound in the video sound not as good. I wonder, how can I remove the high frequency sound in the background without making the sound quality worse? 2.Second question is, what is the best HD format? Right now I'm using Quicktime movie and H.264 compression, but there is some quality loss, so I just wounder if there is any better options |

First off, welcome to the forum Tirian. Instead of masking the offending sound, have you tried to pinpoint the cause? When you play video directly from camera to the tv is the high pitch sound present? If not, then your camera is okay. This narrows it down to the transfer method, your computer or the software you be using to edit & render. if the high pitch sound is present when you play directly from the camera to your tv then your camera has the issue. It could possibly be anything from a short (causing feedback) in the mic, to the image stabilizer causing the feedback. Please see if you get the offending noise when hooked directly to tv and please post back.

When I play it back in my TV I first could not hear anything, but when I increaded the volume alot I could hear a little bit of the high pitch sound, but in the computer it sounds much more and is much more annoying.
I'm transfering my video with USB. You can here the sound right after the video has been transferd, so I don't think it is because rendering. |

Does your camera have the option of using am external mic? You could try this to rule out or confirm if it is the on-board mic causing the problem.

The camera can not use an external mic. Do you think there are any mini-USB to mic adapter that might work for cameras?

Try shooting some footage with the mic turned completely off, then transfer and see if you have the same problem. Me gut feeling is that the mic is picking up some internal noise or feedback and might be a problem with that model. How long have you had the camera?

I can't seem to find any option for turning of the mic. I've had the camera for a couple of month.

looks as if your options are rather limited. Double check to make sure it does not have 1/8 mic option. One source me looked at say's it does have the option. Anything else, you might end up having to deal with Samsung customer service. They don't have the best track record.
