Default No picture when HDMI goes from Uverse, thru BluRay, to plasma

Forgive me, ALL, for beinga dummy and for bringing up something I am SURE others have asked about, but my kids won't allow me suffiecient time to sit here and scour the threads in your forum.

My Mission:

The setup, now:
ATT UVerse w/ HDMI output
LG LHB977 blu-ray home theatre, has HDMI INputs (2) as well as OUTput
Panasonic TH-42PHD7UY plasma TV, in nice shape

I use an HDMI-to-DVID cable to run FROM Uverse TO the TV (which has a DVI card in it, but not HDMI)

THE PROBLEM: When I use a little HDMI jumper to loop OUT from Uverse, then IN to blu-ray, ...and then go OUT from blu-ray on to IN at the TV, I get no signal, or the dark green 'messed-up' picture.

Is this a simple calibration issue, which I can tweak and fix by playing around w/ the remotes? Having tried both, I find that movies play great on the blu-ray, when it's linked straight and only to the TV, as Uverse works just fine, when I have Uverse linked straight to the TV (and in which case I have a couple of sound cables running from Uverse to the blu-ray so I get TV sound).

Your thoughts please, as I am simply moving my HDMI when we want to do a movie, for now (day 2), but I don't wanna do that too long, ...nor do I want to get lost in digi-land before consulting my IT dept.

D
