Huh? What solution? If you need one, then changing your connections to component should alleviate your issues. Comcast, unfortunately, does not support HDMI at this time. Maybe one day soon, but I think that is the real deal.

Do you have the latest firmware updated for both your HD DVD player and your TV? That would probably resolve your issues...Unless one device is HDMI 1.3 and the other is or uses a previous version. The HDCP handshake is at issue here.
