HD-DVD Network Port Settings

Recently went to FIOS, I have HD-DVD's that have web content but I believe there is a port I need to open on my FIOS router. Does anyone know what port is utilized.

You do NOT need to open a port on your router. Check this link for the info:

Here is the part you need for how to set up the Ethernet connection ON THE PLAYER (not the router):

To Update Via The Ethernet Port

First, go into the internet section of the Setup menu (Ethernet --> DHCP) and do the following:

1) Turn DHCP to ON
2) Turn DNS to ON
3) Move cursor to highlight the Confirm button in Yellow and press OK

Exit out of the setup menu and remove any disc that may be in the HD DVD player. Turn off the power and then turn it back on. You should then be able to update to the latest firmware via the Setup menu (General --> Maintenance --> Update) and then following the on-screen instructions.

Once the firmware update download process has finished:

A message will appear, and the firmware update will automatically start.
When the firmware update is completed, the player will automatically turn itself off.

That should be all you need to do is:

1) Turn DHCP to ON
2) Turn DNS to ON
3) Move cursor to highlight the Confirm button in Yellow and press OK

I am not talking about updating the player. I am already up to the 4.0 firmware. I am actually talking about movies with web enabled content. I don't if this a port forwarding issue. Depends what port the video downloads is taking place, if it is port 80 (http) or another port. Secondly is just that the web enabled content on these discs are no longer available.

I have not checked if the online content on HD DVD movies has been disabled or not yet but if you already have the network ports already set up, then that could be the reason. Did you set the network settings already? That should be all you have to do to get the online stuff. If you cannot, then that studio likely shut down the web data for that movie.

I expected at some point they would do that, but considering there will not be more movies it is a diminishing thing so it likely would not use a lot of bandwidth and wish/hope they didn't disable it.

I think all or most movie studios have disabled the HD DVD web contents. When HD DVD was still in the market, my HD DVD player was able to download the web contents. Now, there isn't any web content to download for HD DVD movies that used to have web contents.
