So this is a BB USA only as up here they aren't even discounting the software yet and have no plans on following the American companies lead.

He never can seem to just make a statement without putting in a dig to HD DVD.

He also thinks blu-ray won because its the better format and consumers chose it.

This in itself has been a rather wierd year. The government and Fed are pursuing incredibly inflationary monetary and fiscal policies, most of us will get free(*ahem*, deferred) tax rebate checks later this year, and now BB is giving us free money. I don't regret my decision one bit, which is why this is like a bonus. It is something I wouldn't have even remotely expected. Perhaps BB is using this as a very expensive PR opportunity to maintain consumer loyalty to their stores. After all, they are doing something that no other retailer is currently willing to do, and that is definately going to earn them some brownie points from the more casual consumer who usually shops at BB anyway.

Default 50 gift card

I went to www.bestbuytradein.com and put in my toshiba a-3 to see how much the trade in value was with 2 movies. And it was a whopping $37.50...With 11-20 movies it's $59.00.

What a joke. Looks like i am keeping this player.
Thanks for the $50 GC though.

I can't understand what is going on with the government, it appears this country is bankrupt and that plan is going to pull us out of the tailspin? Oh boy, I hope it does but I sure don't understand how.

I don't regret my HD DVD purchase too much, I guess in hindsight spending all of that money on Blu-ray software rather than HD DVD hardware and software and I would have more to show for it but I will keep HD DVD and use it for many years. The fact the format works really well helps and it will always be a conversation piece when people visit. People have heard of it, but nobody in my circle bought an HD DVD player except me.

I dont have a receipt from my purchase cause it obviously sent that to toshiba for the five free. Didnt buy it witha credit card or use a rewards card, but I called ayway and talked to a rep just gave em my model # and phone # and she told me I should get it in 4-6 weeks. I could not beleive it with no real proof of purchase or anything, so if your in the same situation as me then give em a call you might get lucky.

I bought my A1 at Best Buy on launch day and I'm pretty sure I used my reward zone card. I don't have a receipt anymore, so I'll just have to hope and wait for it to come in the mail.

BB has some weird policies listen to what else they did. I bought my xbox360 from them (after waiting 8 mos after release) and bought a product replacement extended warranty from them. 1st time I ever bought an extended warranty and now that I am on my 3rd xbox360 money well spent. (this last one has been going strong for quite a while now). During this process each time I have gotten new controllers and cables swapped out as well. But the greatest was when last time I went in for exchange and since their had been a price reduction between when I bought my xbox360 and what they were selling for now I got an $80 store gift card to make up the difference (which I promptly used to defray the cost of my BD player)

I didn't get an email because I purchased my A1 before November, 2006. They say purchases made before then don't qualify. Fortunately I bought an add-on last year there but didn't use my reward zone card. So I called an got my transaction # so I just need to go to Best Buy with that and my ID to get my receipt. I don't know if they give me my $50 card right there and then or if they'll send it in the mail. But at least I'll get mine.

Well, it involves some relatively simple macroeconomic principles involving aggregate supply and aggregate demand. The problem is that *if* we are in a recession, it is definately a supply side recession rather than a typical Keynesian demand side recession. The last time we went through this type of recession was in the mid 70's. The problem is that the cost of inputs such as oil are making production less profitable, so the supply curve has shifted to the left and production has gone down. What this means is that we have lower employment, and higher price levels. What they are trying to do now could work, but it will very likely be highly inflationary, which is scary. What they are trying to do is the shift the bitch(the demand side) to the right which would return us to a higher level of output, and a lower level of unemployment. However, the equilibrium is at a much higher price level due to inflation. As a person that prefers to follow the Monetarist viewpoint, this is darn right scary as inflation can have very destabilizing effects.
