Default HD-A30 Remote Control Setup Problems

Hey Everyone,

I searched for this on the forums and didnt turn up any threads on it, so my apologies if this has already been asked else where.

It seems as though I cannot program the remote from my Vizio LCD to control my new HD-A30. What happens is this, I input the code, try to power off the device with the programmed remote, and the display of my HD-A30 just blinks "HD-DVD". So, it's definitely making a connection of sorts, but no luck in correctly controlling the device. I tried updating the firmware, but as I expected, it didn't help at all. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this to work or have codes that could work?

If i'm out of luck with my Vizio remote, can anyone recommend extremely easy to use remotes that have the ability to control all my devices?

HD-A30
Vizio 52 inch LCD
Yamaha ysp-1100 digital sound projector
Moto HD cable box

Ease of use is a must as this is my parents setup and they demand a single remote setup.

Thanks for any help!

A Harmony 670 remote would work great for you. Once you set it up via computer software and a USB connection, you just press "WATCH TV" for all the correct inputs/settings to change for that activity. Ditto for "WATCH MOVIE", etc.

My 6 year old can run my HT system with the 680 in the living room, and the 670 in the bedroom.

Incredible. I had no idea it would do that. I'll be picking one up today.

The Tech support for these remotes is amazing also. Honestly I do not know how they make money on them since they can go into the remote setup remotely when you are logged into the software to fix issues.

I highly recommend them. My wife thought I was nuts to spend $125.00 for the 680 remote, but now she loves it. I even bought one for my in laws and they love it too.

Thank you so much for your recommendation. The 670 is beyond perfect for this situation. It was so easy to setup and I'm extremely happy with it, as are my folks.

Thanks again!

If your not in to using a computer to program a universal remote I recommend either one of these two remotes.
