Could be, but as appealing as it may seem, we don't want that. At least the people here don't. We have all invested a lot in the players themselves. Also a lot of dedication to at least one if not both of these formats has came with time. I personally hope that no matter who it is, hd DVD or blu-ray ends up winning. We don't want another format IMO

Oh, but it is too late for that! Behold, my latest creation.... Green-Ray DVD! Each disk holds up to 500 gigs of information, displays video in 1081p (that's right, one more line), and is capable of supplying what we call SUPER Lossless audio. It is able to hold so much data using our patented 50 layer disk system (literally 1/2 inch data storing goodness). In addition, it has a 1/4 inch thick protective candy coating. Each disk will come in your choice of flavors; peppermint, spearmint, and sour apple.

If HD DVD dies, and I can get lots of bargainlicious movies I won't complain. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that.

Haha, just a little sarcasm.

And thank you for the welcome.

I have been watching these forums for a bit now and have enjoyed reading the debates and discussions which have been, for the most part, constructive and interesting.

Chris Gerhard would disagree with you though.

It is not really one more line; 1080 is already 1088-- the bottom 8 are transmitted black and are for adjustment (size and placement and your screen).

1080 is really 1125 as 480 is really 525. The additional 45 lines (we never see) are used for housekeeping functions like picture sync. There are 1080 visible lines in a 1920x 1080 signal. That is what actually has the image info

I like this guy, hope he sticks around.

In response to the OP, there will be deals for a very very short time, then everything will go out of print and if you want to buy an HD disc you'll have to go on eBay where you'll have to pay an arm and a leg.
