There has to be something to this or Amazon wouldn't be showing it. The MSRP of the A3 at $299.. hmm, surely that one will be $199 or les around Xmas time. Can you hear the distant grumbling of the BD fanboy nation? I think I do

Good find!

You would think the 2nd gen players would drop in price, maybe under $199.99?

I would expect that as well.

I am looking forward to seeing the specs on the A35 as I expect it is the repalcement to the XA2.. unless they are coming out with an XA3 series.

The A35 says it iwll have both Deep Color (worthless) and HDMI-CEC. Here is a description of CEC:

Quote:
HDMI offers CE Control (CEC), which enables connected devices to control each other over one wire.

to each his own.
I don't purchase stuff based on their price.

Ummm, are you saying that price has nothing to do with your decision to buy or not buy? You are in a small minority then.

I buy based on best bang for the buck and practicality in most cases.

To each thier own but that isn't mainstream. J6P is who will decide the outcome, not you or I.

I think we know how you Blu-Ray supporters think (ar at least what you post you think), Price is not important, we don't care about extra features or our that our players are not 1.1 compliant, our format is so superior because of greater capacity of discs, studio support, software (although capacity, studio support and software have not done very little if anything for your dominance) Blu-Ray is barely ahead and HD DVD is increasing market share every month.

Too bad the normal J6P consumer doesn't think like you all do, they do care about price and if they knew, they would care about the extra features that are not available on the present Blu-Ray players also and they do not give a damn about if their discs have 30 GB or 50 GB capacity as long as the movie looks really good to them.

Some people get so caught up in the technical specifications of the format they forget the normal buyer doesn't give a hoot about them, just the cost to them to get it and does it look better to them.

Sorry for the rant, someone posting something that appears obviously so format biased just gets me going. my bad!

Lee,
I gotta say, I have no idea what your point is here, but I know you have one. Please explain.

I also wonder if this will mean selling all the tooling for 2nd Gen to another manufacturer in order to get some rebadged A2's out of a low-cost supplier, maybe??

I am happy you live in such a lofty world where price is of no matter to you. . .

Perhaps next time you can not be so arrogant about it.

Links aren't working. Did a search for HD-A35 in electronics and a blank image came up.

Talking

OK, here's my theory...

Lee Stewart is a Hi-Def forum computer program. He doesn't need to sleep, eat, or even think really. He just brings "more data" to generate discussion and feed our brains !! LoL.

Just kidding (I hope it's obvious) by the way.

I tried reading the 11 page document on that link you posted, but I gotta tell you, it's WAY beyond my understanding...and I love this shit !

You certainly have a way of finding shit out I've not seen or heard of before. But that's just me, I may be a minority on this site AFAIK

I also liked the HD-DVD player news, figures, I just bought a XA2 several months back !

Oh well, such is life in the world of CE for sure, ha ha ! Buy today, a better/cheaper one tomorrow

Good stuff Lee. Thanks (are you sure they don't employ you here ?)

Peace
