Thumbs up Official Toshiba HD DVD Firmware ISO Downloads Here!

Here you go folks:

Toshiba HD DVD Firmware ISO Downloads - Canadian Site
Toshiba HD DVD Firmware ISO Downloads - American Site

Current Versions:

HD-A1 -- Firmware update 2.3 Date: July 3, 2007
HD-XA1 - Firmware update 2.3 Date: July 3, 2007
HD-A2 -- Firmware update 2.1 Date: July 30, 2007
HD-A20 - Firmware Update 2.1 Date: July 30, 2007
HD-XA2 - Firmware update 2.1 Date: July 30, 2007

Note: If your model is a Toshiba HD-D2 then all you need is the HD-A2 firmware. Likewise, if your model is a Toshiba HD-D1 you'll simply need the HD-A1 firmware.

ISO Burning Software: There is a FREE version of DeepBurner that will burn ISO images. Click here to download. Since the firmware filesize is relatively small, please be sure to burn at a slow speed. This can often ensure a solid, error-free burn.

Sadly, Toshiba does not release notes, so we never know what they are fixing, updating or repairing

Toshiba does list it under support on their standard website, but they never change the wording of what is fixed anyway so it is useless.

If you read what they say, they are fixing the same problems every time, but fixing them better!

Fortunately, the truth is better than the description in most cases.

Default Really work?

So has anyone tried these "updated" .iso's since a week ago? The images from a week ago gave everyone problems - "not a dvd" on the HD-A1 screen.....?

Any actually downloaded, burned, and tried these images?

Thanks!

Interesting point. I think most of us are into internet downloads now.
But that problem also seemed to creep up out of no where the last few months.
Not sure it was tackled in the latest firmware changes.

Just an FYI...

I've tried multiple brands of CD-R and CD-RW and neither the Canadian .iso nor the North America .ISO (they are identical btw) work for me on my HD-A1... What a bummer!

(I don't have a net connection... I know I know.. I live in the stone age.)

So... Way to go TOSHIBA! Nice firmware .iso download.

This thing has been plagued with issues since I bought it. I'm really surprised no one has screamed class action!

Are you using the BURN IMAGE command in your burning software? Many people just burn the file directly to the disc which will not work. I burned the A1 software at the Canadian site and updated my player and mailed it to a member here as well. It worked fine. Now the USA site had a bad image file that did not work, but the Canadian site's image file is ok.

What software are you using to burn the firmware onto the disc? If you are using Nero to burn it go to the "RECORDER" menu item and on the drop down menu choose "BURN IMAGE". That will open a window that you then navigate to where you saved the image file. The file should be named "HDA1-HDXA1-T2301N.iso". Then just make sure "FINALIZE CD" option is checked and hit the BURN button in the pop up box.

Good luck & I hope this helps!
