Can't beat a free one and a half inch HDMI cable !

But seriously, that's a great deal and looks like an even better deal than the one you got Bruce! Since I saw an XA1 sell on ebay for $420 last week I might have to make the switch after all. Although, I'm leaning toward a PS3 as there are a lot of BD only movies I want to watch. My XA1 works great so it seems kind of stupid to swap one for the other (I got rid of all but a few "classic" regular DVD's-and I'll get rid of those once they come out in HD-DVD/BD so upscaling isn't a big concern to me).

Yeah, I was going to buy my XA2 from Robert, but I only had $800.00 to spend. I guess I had bad luck.

Good deal. I got a similar deal from a B&M store last month.

In case you need to add an HD-DVD player for your attic and basement too, Robert does have the new HD-A20 on sale for $499

You seem to enjoy owning everything HD-DVD, so this is something else to add to your collection!

With the A20 selling for what the A2 is selling for I guess we can expect a decent price drop on the A2 very soon. The pic of the A20 looks like it shares the chassis with the XA2 instead of the A2 which kind of surprised me. I imagine that the XA2/A20 is a better chassis than the A2 has, but I have never seen one in person to be sure.

It is a better chassis than the A2. Heavier and a more solid feel to it. I was surprised by the weight difference of the 2.

It went back up but what matters is this unit will hit the 500 range before or along the launch of the A20 which should help sell a lot more units. I'm so lucky I have to wait till the summer to buy all this stuff cause by then the prices would have dropped 50% on this and the AVR I plan on getting.

Edit back down to 639

I hear the 2.1 FW update is out now in Japan (for the A1, XA1), so it should be available via ethernet any day now. Hopefully, it'll fix some playback problems and other stuff (like not losing the HDMI handshake when you change inputs--the 1.3 A2/XA2 update fixed that).

Oh yeah? I can't wait although I would much rather like to hear a yes or no confirmation as to whether us HD-A1/XA1 owners will be getting the DTS-HD and MA decoder update in the future. If Robert cruises by this thread, maybe he can give up more information as to when we might get 2.1 for our units.
