Default Toshiba A30 firmware help

I just recently updated the firmware on my A30 and it's freezing up on me now. Is there anyway to revert back to the previous firmware version? I think it was at V3 prior to this latest update and having no problems.

Steve

Did you power down the player, unplug it from the wall and upon plugging it back in delete the persistent storage? I would start there first.

I used this Hex editor program to change the version number in the firmware file to make the version on it newer than what the current version is so that it would think it is a newer version:

http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/

I have not done this for over 1.5 years so I cannot remember what I changed for my A20. I would really have to dig back into old documentation to try to figure it out.

You have to modify the header info in the firmware version you want to use again and trick the machine to think the older version is newer than what is currently installed. You will need to use the windows calculator (hex symbols) to figure out where the version is located. i needed to know what the version already installed was and then look for that hex equivalent to change and then change it.

Thanks, this seemed to have worked. What is the explanation for this? How often do you delete this data?

Not sure why, maybe a bit like RAM that got filled/maxed out but in most cases the procedure I posted usually solves the issues you are/were having.

Only need to delete if having problems or if you are going to do another firmware update.
