Default PLEASE Help Me Find One! Going Nuts Here!

Howdy folks...

About a year ago, I made the biggest mistake I could ever make...I traded in my Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD Player through Best Buy's trade in program.

And oh boy...how I miss her!

She was the best standard DVD Up-Scaler I owned. And I still have my collection of HD DVD's that I cannot watch.

I'm tearing my hair out trying to find an online retailer who still may carry any HD DVD players.

Don't like what I see on eBay and the folks on Amazon marketplace still want a hefty chunk of change for a player.

Anybody have any advice?

I'm looking for any online retailer that still sells a player...be it new, refurbished or used. 720p/1080i and/or 1080p. Any brand. And, this is not a must, but $100 or under?

I've searched high and low with zippo to show for it. So I figured, rally the troops!

Any advice, links or input?

Would be so VERY MUCH greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I have found a well known retailer that is still selling/still has in stock the HD DVD add-on drive for the Xbox 360. It's only $34.99. Hmmmm?

How does this thing hook up to the 360, then the TV? I have the Elite w/ HDMI out.

Not sure if I should go this route or keep hunting for a standalone?

the add-on drive hooks up via the rear usb port. I DID have the add-on, but gave it to a friend awhile back. I shoulda kept it even though I had the A3.

I found an LG blu-ray/hd dvd combo drive for $249 which I'm thinking of getting in case my A3 goes caput!

Does the Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on drive output in 1080p? Or just 720p/1080i?

The same drive is now $169 (I got it for $139 when it was on sale),and it plays HD DVD and burns and plays Blu - Ray. A great buy

I have one and yes it does output in 1080p. But it doesn't output HD audio like True-HD.

Since you mentioned you do not have an HDMI 360 (just like me) you will need to get the VGA cable for the 360 so you can watch in HD.

One bonus that I have noticed about the 360 add-on is the boot up time is nearly as fast as a standard DVD! Compaired to my HD-A3(which takes nearly 40 seconds to eject the HD-DVD tray) it is lightening fast.

On the contrary...I have the 360 Elite which has the HDMI out, so even better!

Thanks for the input on the HD DVD add-on drive. I might just go that route.

My only concern is having to leave the Xbox on as well, the entire time I watch an HD DVD, knowing how hot the 360 gets.
