Toshiba has provided better support than I have ever gotten with a CE product before.

1. They overachieved and provided MORE than I thought I was buying, with the updates and new features added for no charge.

2. They provided a price point that turned me into an early adopter.

3. They seem to have a well thought out format spec, that doesn't require you to buy another next generation player to get all the playback abilities the format has to offer (i.e. SD DVD, CD, & most important HD audio decoders built-in). No need to buy a new receiver until I am ready. No need to promise something in the future to get what I bought NOW.

4. And they make me confident that my choice of HD-DVD was a good one.

I agree with all of the above as well. Bottom line is that Toshiba just made a better product.

For those movies I've just got to have and their not out on HD-DVD but out on Blu-ray, I'll just get the SD version and their upconverted PQ will look 99% as good as if I had the Blu-ray.

My loyalty's not blind at all. I'm loyal to the brand/format that treats me well.

When I bought the A1, I bought it with the understanding that its TrueHD capabilites were limited to 2-channel only. A couple of months later, they gave me a free upgrade to 5.1.

When's the last time Sony gave a feature away for free? When's the last time they gave a feature awat for free to people who already owned the product?

Back to the thread.... IMHO, with all due respect, its pretty a useless one. If you don't plan to buy an high def DVD player, then why post in an HD DVD Players form to announce your executive decision? Do we supposed to change your mind? We are all aware of your talking points as to why you won't buy either. Thats fine; its your choice. Enjoy your decision and move on. Next topic...

HD DVD players have been far better than the Bluray players, and more features...

Almost everything "glow" says is a distortion of fact - oh well...

HD DVD has more movies out, and they are almost all better quality than the bluray releases.

All the more reason to sign the studio petition - just to clam-up people like "glow".

Neither of them have done a thing for me. I actually am not a big Toshiba fan as I have a portege tablet and had issues with their customer service.

Microsoft made an add on for the 360. HD-DVD has all the features I want, is at the price I was willing to pay and I love Universal.

I also figure - If bluray does happen to win, by the time that happens, I'll be able to pick up a bluray player for $200-400. So overall I still wouldn't have paid what some are paying now for bluray players.
