WalMart selling the A2 and A3 at lower prices will really tip the scales to HD.

Well, i bought a Blu Ray Sony 300, based on the fact that someone said, the PQ is better, that the image is not compressed as in a HD/DVD Disc......I know nothing about the technical stuff, except what I am learning from these forums. I went to buy some movies today at BB, and so many of the titles I wanted were on HD/DVD.... I already own 800 plus SD DVD's! Which I was told were better converted by a Blu-Ray Player......(I think that's why I went BD).... Anyway, now I am thinking, should I also buy a HD/DVD Player? I am sure the prices will drop and if they have 5/10 DVD's with a player, why not? Please advice, should I stick to one player? Or buy another as well? Or wait for One that does both at a reasonable cost?.... I remember the Sony SACD Player! I have one! and maybe 3 SACD discs! Those failed! Sony is always trying to be different, but somehow it always seems to get it wrong! Beta, SACD, and who knows what else! M Jackson, as well!!!! I just wish everyone would make up their minds and stop messing with the consumers!...... Oh, and BTW, there is VUDU now, www.vudulabs.com this changes everything as well, as if the download is quick, I would rather pay $3.99 then to buy and store another DVD!!!! As in I also have 1200 CD's and want to sell them now! e-bay I guess! Thanks

Seriously, If you can catch one of the HD DVD player sales, then there is no real financial risk in buying an HD DVD player to supplement or replace (if you are really dissatisfied with BD or don't watch the movies from the BD exclusive studios) your BD player. To me this is a win/win situation for you. Unfortunately you were not given correct information when you purchased your BD player relative to HD DVD, which I think you have come to realise, now that you have been on this forum a bit. So if I were you, I would not go back to that sales person, except maybe to convey my dissatisfaction with their apparent lack of knowledge and expertise on these HD Media products! Good luck with whatever you eventually decide to do! And I hope that you enjoy your High Definition DVDs!

Blu-Ray will eventually win over HD DVD. Talking to a DVD vendor at Best Buy last night, I was told that Blockbuster and Hollywood Video are going Blu-ray. My local Best Buy devotes 5 display units for Blu-ray and 2 for HD DVD.

Read a little more before making such a blanket statement and you will have better credentials on this and every other forum. P.S. I would have posted the same thing if you had said HD DVD is going to win because my Wall Mart has 40 more HD DVD titles then Blu-Ray, so what! I'm not trying to pick on you but just think a little more before posting or at least add an huge IMO to the end of it.

. Selling hardware at rock bottom prices does not serve as a predictor of format.

Selling cheap is not going to win the format issue. Time will tell.

Here's an interseting format link:http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post...-at-least.html
I have no ax to grind here. I am blown away by my Blu-ray copy of 2001 that I picked up last night. I do feel Blu-ray will win but if not, then I'll get a HD DVD player. For those who need to get emotionally worked up about a topic such as this must have little going on in their own lives; it's not a big deal to me. My opinion that Blu-ray will win out was just my opinion based on information I have seen.

BB has a lot of BD fan boys working there and they push BD because they get bigger markups on the BD players at 2-3 times the money. I wouldn't believe ANYTHING they said about the format war. They make shit up when they do not know the answer and I have personally heard them do this countless times, and many others have also.
These are the same people ripping off uninformed customers stating that they need a $179.00 Monster HDMI cable for their $79.00 upscaling SD DVD player.

At least you learned enough to add that it was just your opinion. I'm not emotionally worked up about this whole thing, I just like facts not fanboy statements being posted.
