Default HD-XA2 No HDMI signal

Hello, I'm having problems with a recently brought HD-XA2. When I hook up the player via HDMI, I have no signal, but it works when it's hooked up with composite cables. I already tried two different HDMI cbles. Any ideas?

It may be a bad HDMI output on the XA2 or a HDMI handshake issue between the player and TV.. I would see if the firmware is current on both the player and TV for starters. If no joy, you could use component for HD DVD's to get 1080i.

The firmware is 1.2/1.5T. When I connect components cable to the player, I still get 480i on the XA2.

You want to update the firmware to the latest version, I think it is 4.0 but my memory could be off. Try firmware update from the menu, see if it can find the firmware at Toshiba's site.

After updating the firmware, disconnect the composite cables if both composite and component are connected, go into the player's menu and change the resolution to 1080i. I am assuming you do mean component, not composite, when you indicate you still get 480i. If component works, reconnect HDMI and see if you can get that working.
