Default Rare HD DVD titles

Rare HD DVD titles

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

updated 4/12

I thought it would be interesting to have a thread at the other end of the price spectrum. Here's a list of a few rare or unavailable titles. If any price follows, it is the prevailing/cheapest price, or, the most recent ebay selling price.

Currently rare titles:

Out of Time (Japanese Import) $152.50 (3/09), $193.50 (3/09), $404 (3/09)

The Gift (Japanese import) $102 (3/09), $152.50 (3/09), $315 (3/09)

Antinonsense (Russian import) $230 (3/09)

For a few Dollars More (Italian import) unavailable (no English audio/subs)

Band of Brothers $168 (3/09)

Jack Ryan Collection $150+
-
Mystery of the Nile (Spanish import) $102.50 (3/09), $162.50 (3/09)

The Power of Fear (Russian import) $300 (3/09)

Mr. Brooks (Russian import) $375 (3/09)

The Tiger and the Snow (Italian Import) $162.46 (4/09)

Two Brothers (French import) $57.50 (3/09)

The Magic Flute (Japanese import) $188.48

Formerly rare titles (and the highest price they sold for)

Taking Lives $1000 (1/09), $710 (12/08)
Bonnie and Clyde $65 (3/09)
Triplettes of Belleville $62 (3/09)

there's some others, I'm sure, anybody know of any that are rare? (rare = unavailable anywhere or only available for over original MSRP)

Walmart doesn't sell HD DVDs anymore, and if there were a few left on the shelve, Bonnie and Clyde probably wouldn't be there.

Wow, Bonnie & Clyde for $46.00?

Is that what they're asking or is it at that price it's at on auction?

I already own it on HD DVD so I wouldn't be interested anyway, but so some HD DVD titles are becoming sort of collector's items and going up in value?

Nothing will ever surprise me, for some of our members HD DVD was absolute crap in every way shape and form.

I still watch and enjoy my HD DVDs on a regular basis and although I like my PS3 I still think my XA2 is superior in many ways, although the new Oppo Blu-Ray player looks to be right up there with it and even better in some ways, I look forward to trying that one out myself.

i just went and looked there is one with 4 hours left and it is at $37.58 now and one other for $130.30

The first one is suprising but the second one is crazy although I doubt it will sell (but with eBay who can tell)?

Yeah Bonnie and Clyde has been hard to get for a few months now and lately has been auctioning for over retail. Mostly the rare stuff are imports, but the non-released US Taking Lives is still the rarest of them all.

Added the Russian import "Mr. Brooks" to the list, selling today for $375. No, it wasn't me and I don't have it either.

My dad found the entire Band of Brothers Japanese set on HD DVD for $160 about a year ago. I bought Equilibrium on HD DVD from a guy on eBay last year for $30 or so, which I thought was a steal because he threw in a HD DVD case and American box art.

HMV occasionally have a UK release (which I never actually saw in shops) listed. I've just had a go at ordering it now as it's "out of stock" but not "unavailible" so I'll report back if they actually get hold of a copy.

All I can say is WOW!
Mystery of The Nile for $102.50.....
Tony at Xploited Cinema found this one for me last year and I thought the price I paid then was bad, ($36.95).
I do have a few of the others on the list but that is because I wanted to view the movie in HD not because it would end up as a collectible item.

I don't guess I understand some of this. I don't have the valuable titles, no surprise, but Bonnie and Clyde is $10 plus shipping at iNetvideo. I haven't checked for other allegedly valuable, rare HD DVD's.

This is pretty sweet.. no idea how they got their hands on these..

It seems like inetvideo just got a new shipment of HDDVD titles from Warner with many rare/hard to find titles.
http://search.inetvideo.com/search?p...sort=price+rev

As mentioned.. Bonnie and Clyde HDDVD is $9.99 + Shipping which beats Amazon's $65..

They also have The Wild Bunch and Mutiny on the Bounty for $9.99, Twister for $7.99. No free shipping yes, but I couldn't really pass on these.. but 15% discount on shipping for orders over $25.

Yes, Bonnie and Clyde, by virtue of the new iNetvideo WB stock, suddenly became not rare anymore. It was the only US title (besides Taking Lives) on the list. Most of the other 'rare' HD DVDs on the list are not worth nearly as much as what was paid for them lately. I guess only time will tell which titles shake down to be truly rare, and the rest not.
