Question Battlestar Galactica Disk Freeze

I recently picked up Season 1, of Battlestar Galactica and noticed a freezing problem on a few chapters of disk 3. Has anyone else had similar problems with this set? Similar problems on both my A30 and D3. Both have the latest firmware updates to 4.0.

Had no freeze problem on my BD-UP5000. Have not tried it on my HD-A2.

I did notice an audio sync problem on one of the episodes using one of the optional soundtracks (DTS?). I think that problem may have been related to the BD-UP5000, as it had been running a while. I power cycled it between episodes and did not notice the problem again.

I've been looking for one of those UP5000 at a decent price. Are they very good with some of those Euro HD DVD's, like Stalingrad(Enemy At The Gate), that doesn't play on more than half of the HD DVD players out there.

I also had issues with this set, disc 4 was much worse than disc 3 which had a couple of freezes and I decided to just live with those. I sent an inquiry to Universal which has done a great job of responding to issues with their HD DVD's. I did return my defective disc 4 to Universal but Universal is apparently out of replacements for that particular disc.

Science Fiction shows are among my favorites on tv. Based on the show that aired in 1978, the new Battlestar Galactica takes sci-fi plots to the next level. With great land and space battle scenes, this show leaves little to be desired. Character plots and arcs increase the intrest in the show with great chemistry and humorus lines. With a bleak future presented before the human race, a group of refugees take it upon themselves to find a new homeplanet to settle the race away from their enemies, the Cylons. This show proves just how resistant the human race is aginst adversity.

I don't recall those specific titles but I own the BD-UP5000 and from reading about issues with various players would say the Toshiba HD-A20 and HD-XA2 would be better choices for HD DVD disc playability.

If only we could rely on TV science fiction shows for evidence the human race will prevail against adversity rather than destroy itself despite the great resources available on the planet, we would know a lot more about what the future holds.

Despite my concerns, your post will likely be my favorite today.

Now, if we can just prevail over the Democrats, the human race would have a chance.

I have had no issues to say of with any of the discs I did have to "clean" them (the hot water lint free cloth method) as disc 3 and 4 looked like they had some kind of film on them no issues since then.....

I sent my defective disc 4 to Universal and received the complete DVD set as a replacement since Universal is out of HD DVD replacement discs or sets for this title. I guess if I was smart, I would have waited for the Blu-ray release. If anybody has a defective disc in this set other than disc 4, I have a good used replacement I can ship to you for about $3. A complete used Battlestar Galactica HD DVD set isn't worth much but one without disc 4 isn't worth anything.
