Default anyone catch the new Michael Moore movie sicko?

i know its not on video yet but i wondered who has seen it. im not a michael moore fan (infact i have been seriously pissed off by his ferinheight 911 doc). i figured i would watch it for a few minutes for a kick since so many people where saying they hate Moore but love this movie. after 10 minutes i was depressed in a good way (you just gotta see the movie to get that last line). i love how he lets the people tell the story and keeps himself off the camera just enough.

there are so many people he helps out of situations which may have cost them there life. he also breaks down how a congressman fought so hard for a health care system Bush signed into congress and all its promisses have been for nothing. he also shows how that same congressman retired quickly after the bill was passed only to become a C.E.O. of a major health insurance company.

i love america but the health care system is one thing i would change in a second. its sad when you have an accident and lose some fingers but the hospital tells you pick a finger because you cant afford both. when i busted my arm up the hospital let me sit there with a dislocated elbow (in more pain then morphine can help) while some hospital board members decide what type of forms i should sign because i didnt have my insurance card on me. it took them 1 1/2 - 2 hours to decide what types of forms and waivers where needed (all that while my arm was out of place and im screaming in pain). its also not acceptable when a little kid dies because the mother called an ambulance for her sick kid which took them to a hospital out of her network.

even if you hate Michael Moore like i do you should like this movie. esp. if you have even been screwed by our health care industry.

The problem with America's healthcare system is that it is a merged, non-universal, two-tier system. IOW we have the astronomical costs of a socialized health care system, but people who aren't receivers of socialized health care pay the price for it. In universal socialized health care systems, the costs are still there but they are hidden by taxes. That's not better, but it creates the illusion of being better.

We need a truly free market health care system. The one we have now is far from capitalist. Point to any free market (electronics, computers, etc.) and you see an industry that constantly changes for the betterment of the consumer (better goods, innovation, lower prices, etc.). Keep politics OUT of health care--it's the only real solution.

And that's the last I'll say on that. This thread is way too off-topic. :-)

I think it's an interesting and very important subject, but I never feel that I am getting the whole story when I watch a Michael Moore movie. Hence, I won't watch it.

Michael Moore is a talented documentry filmmaker-- but first, and foremost he is is a propagandist. I'm with tcarico, I'll not ever spend a dime to watch one of his films . . .

My brother (who is neither a Democrat nor Republican) works in the health care industry and is eager to see the film. He claims that there is incredible corruption in it and hopes that Moore can make an impact.

Sorry, but to me that makes no sense. No matter what you see or who you listen to, you are NOT getting the "whole story."

Why not watch or listen to some of both sides?

Watch Moore's movie, then watch a couple of hours of Fox News, and you've got your balance!
