I believe it is pretty sick. I am one of those people that are currently without health insurance. This is a direct result of the insurance that is offered to me by my employer. They currently offer Aetna, which for all intent and purposes it is a catastrophic policy. Doctor visits and medications are nearly covered, therefore I would rather save $100 per month instead of giving it to the slimey bastards at Aetna.
I hope that more people will continue to speak up and hold these health insurance conglomerates accountable, or the health of the average American will continue to go down.

The more I read about the health insurance you have the US, the more I think the country is heading in the wrong direction including your link... "trustedtop100.info -aggregated link data from Message Board Posts, and Forum Threads, which have linked to and from trustedtop100.info."

Here in Canada we have a fine medical system for everyone, (I've never had waits, always seen doctor on the day I need) but filling out a prescription is another matter, if you can't afford the medicine, what's the point in the doctor? If you get a national health plan, make sure you encompass a drug plan.

It sounds more like it is an issue with the policy your employer offers and not the insurance company itself. I bet Aetna offers a better plan but that is not what your company wanted to offer the employees.

No question Health Insurance is a problem in this country and around the world including the countries that have "free" health Insurance. Nothing is free, and many Canadians come to the USA to buy things cheaper if they are anywhere near a border so they can save money which includes the taxes that help make most things more expensive in Canada, but also funds such a health insurance plan.

The question is at what point do people have to be held accountable for their OWN health care? Where does it end? Why should anyone have to work for that matter since we could all live longer without the stress (which is a killer in itself) of work right?

One of the problems is that the medical equipment supply companies are getting rich by charging the equivalent of $500.00 for a toilet seat that we all here about the gov't paying for things. You would be shocked to see how much these medical equipment companies are gouging the medical community and how that gets passed on 3 fold to the end patients.

Add that close to 50% of what a doctor makes goes to pay for malpractice insurance because doctors are not allowed to be human and make a rare mistake without millions being paid out to lawyers. The whole system is broken and the only way to fix it is to fix ALL the parts that are broken before getting some kind of universal health care option. The problem is everyone wants the easy fix, and the ones gouging do not want to have to change.

No sense adding air to a tire that has a leak when it is better to fix the tire first or buy a new tire.

The city of Calgary (where I *lived for close to 20yrs.) has a population of approx 1.1 million people. yet has only the Peter Lougheed General, Foothills General, Rockyview General, and a newly opened Childrens hospital.

Montana with under a million, (902,195 in 2000 wikipedia) has 61 hospitals according to wikipedia !

This is Canada's great health care system...nothing wrong here ! I feel so embarrassed. Such a wealthy country being run into the ground by jack asses ! My relatives who fought for democracy are rolling in their collective graves !

Thanks for allowing me to vent...again. It just goes to show, for every action there is an equal and opposite...government program ! LoL !

So if you plan a visit to Calgary for the wonderful stampede...don't get sick or injured !

*The word lived is highlited for two reasons. 1) it is subjective. and 2) because since leaving the city, I have a completely different definition of living. Those years where surviving !

All those problems arent associated with socialized medicine, those are problems with Canada's own implementation of socialized medicine. We arent that much higher than the US in the WHO standings and just so you know, every country ahead of us also has free healthcare.

Canada's problems
Bureaucracy - I dont think anyone can say that this is an issue that cant be fixed or improved.
No doctors - Canada is below the average since the US keeps stealing them. Here a doctor would only be able to buy a BMW, working in the states lets him afford 2 or 3 ferraris.

I dont see how the cons for each country are even remotely the same.
Yeah the wait times can be long and hospitals are getting full. Umm that seems alot better than going bankrupt or just plain dying.

Actually his malpractice insurance company and lawyer get those. They can only afford a Volvo after the others get their piece of the action.

me has the best health insurance of them all. By moving me fat arse away from the puter and TV,,,getting outside and enjoying fresh air,,,by eating what's natural and leaving the junk alone,,,and lots of peanuts (good crappage)!! Not to mention that imbibement in spirits helps to dissinfect the bowels and adds to spiritual health. Who the hell needs a doctor when any good veterinarian will do ya. Me own vet has pulled a couple of me teeth, sewed me up more times than a raggady ann doll,,,and we shared a bottle of linement more times than me can remember. The bottle line is, oops, the bottom line is we're all gonna die. Don't let life live you, let yourself live life and enjoy every friggin minute of it. In Hidef fashion.

Honestly, if you believe anything in a Michael Moore movie to be true, healthcare is the least of your problems. Check out "Manufacturing Dissent" a documentary made originally to praise Moore as a great documentarian. During the filming the film makers (Caine and Melnyk) followed Moore while he was making "Sicko." They wanted to show how good he was only to find out that he is essentially a complete liar. They changed the theme of their documentary to expose his methods.

So if you base any thing on Moore's documentaries, that says a lot by itself.
