No Blu ray, It was done as a limited release and once 500 were pre-ordered they took the link down to pre-order. I got in and it cost $30 and included a std dvd along with the HD dvd. Here is the link to the discussion....http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/news/..._HD-DVD!!/3382

This is such a joke. The quality will be pathetic, no way a Blu-ray release would sell anything which explains why there won't be one. The movie is Deadlands 2, not Deadwood 2. I am sure you all remember that blockbuster, Deadlands 1.

Here is a link to the IMDb listing to the first movie in this series, "Deadlands: The Rising". An astounding rating of 1.6 stars. And that includes the cast and crew votes of 10.

You don't have to buy it but to people who like that type of movie it is great and not a joke. But your opinion of the quality can't be taken seriously until the release of the disc. Why be hate'n.......

My opinion of the quality is based on the little information I have read about how the film was made and the reviews I have read. The HD DVD release has been delayed according to a news release I read on IMDb:

Quote:
[DVD News] - "Deadlands 2" Release Date Delay HD DVD Only
27 September 2009 9:03 AM, PDT | www.ohmygore.com/ | See recent OhMyGore news »

Anthem Pictures has pushed back the release date of "Deadlands 2: Trapped" the HD DVD edition until November 24th 2009. This is due to the extended amount of Mastering it will take to include the absorbant amount of material supplied for the HD DVD release. "While we understand the delay is a bit disappointing we want HD DVD fans to know we want to give them the best possible release of Deadlands 2 on HD DVD they can get. This extra time will be used to make sure the HD DVD edition is packed to the brim and something the hard core collectors can be proud of to own in their collection." Gary Ugarek For anyone who pre-ordered the HD DVD edition Anthem will provide a little extra for the delay. Anyone who pre-ordered Deadlands 2 on HD DVD will be given a free copy of the regular... »

And here is the IMDb link to the actual movie being released on HD DVD, which may prove to be more useful.

It's also interesting to note that AVS is prohibiting the discussion of this release in the HD DVD software forum.

I suspect those few votes are a result of the same trick used with the first movie. The cast and crew and family of cast and crew have voted. Let's see if it doesn't tank exactly like the first one did after people that were actually suckered into buying the DVD vote.

Did the 500 that signed up actually have to pay? If not, I am going to bet that most will realize how absurd it is to pay $30 for this movie and will back out after seeing actual reviews of the disc. This is a one and done sort of scam, it won't happen again as you can't sucker 500 people twice.

According to IMDb, the movie did $3,000 box office and cost $6,000 to make. The high votes are obviously a scam, nobody other than cast and crew would have voted yet. A 500 HD DVD run selling out at $30 would make the movie profitable so I understand the scam but what I don't understand is how they got 500 to bite. I am going to bet with that budget, most of the film was shot on SD video. Good format war fodder, compare this HD DVD to "Watchmen" on Blu-ray, dark films on both formats.

This is just another funny side story in the long running hilarious HD DVD story.

I took a few minutes to read a few of the written reviews. One reviewer admitted to voting 1, when he believes the film is actually a 2. He did this to help balance out the bogus high votes from people involved with the film. The filmmaker, Gary somebody, discussed this point in the discussion forum there and believes it was improper for that voter to vote 1 when he believes the film is actually a 2.

I believe that may be a first. The director of a film arguing with an IMBb voter because he voted 1 rather than 2. Even if it isn't the first time this has happened at IMDb, it is still pretty funny.

That may be the case with the Deadlands 1, but the movie that's coming out on HD DVD and DVD is Deadlands 2, and I haven't really read anything that negative about it in the reviews I saw. Why do you keep harping on the first movie? Trolling perhaps?

What's funny is your animated reaction to it. Three posts in a row to boot?

Either you're interested in it or not. If not, what's the point of hanging out in this thread? Why don't you go say the same trollish remarks in the HDD thread, and see if you can get away with it there?

Really I don't get why you are getting so worked up about this Chris. It's only a scam if you don't get what you paid for and everyone who bought it know's exactly what they are getting so a scam it is not. I agree with the trolling remark as you seem to have a hidden agenda or even hate for something or someone affiliated with this. Your acting kind of angry if you ask me, but you didn't so I guess whatever it is that is bothering you about this just let it go. People live and dye with their own decisions we are all big boy's and girl's and can deal with it. Sorry you feel so bad about this, Oh maybe you didn't get in before they closed the link to preorder...... Again I say... Don't be hate'n......
