@ me. Already have a 4870....but I need more powa!!!!!!!1
And here we were talking about budget gaming

Sounds like going back to work is paying off (literally) All this looking at parts is giving me the upgrade bug, think I might start stashing cash away for a new PSU and a high end vid card (my psu is getting dated now, been awhile)

That's what's great about PC gaming...it's scalable!

...and addictive. It's not like my 4870 had trouble running any game out with high settings. But sometimes the framerate dropped on Crysis I don't dig frame rate drops.

And if it falls on its ass...fight temptation and wait for the HD 5x00 series haha.
I know damn well not to buy such a card (295x), but I just got our 08 Safety/Performance bonus and it was VERY healthy.

Plus, I figured the economy needed stimulating. Just trying to help saving the gaming industry.

DO YOUR PART! YOU KNOW YOU WANT ONE.

Now I just have to make sure I can fit a shoe box in my case.

This sexy mofo is only a hundred bones.

Ati Radeon 4770.

It's basically a 4850, but with GDDR5 and a die shrink.

Just came out. Most of the good brands are out of stock, but I think Newegg still has some MSI ones.

Yah, that is a good card but TBH I'm kind put off by the 128bit instead of 256bit. I know the GDDR5 bandwidth should (does) offset that but I'm kinda thinking about down the road if that will still hold true.

Think I'm gonna shoot even higher for a 256bit card down the road... either way I'm gonna need a new PSU to go with it, my old 480watt Antec is showing its age

Damn money...

No new PSU for that card. Never get's over 100w. It's a 40nm die.

Check the benchmarks...I looked hard at getting two of these cards instead of the GTX, and I still might.

But even one runs every game out very well. It's in the league of a "buy it and don't even read the specs on games" card.......For $100.....I love hardware prices in 2009.

That card should need about 25 amps, my psu is a multi-rail that outputs at most 18amps on a single rail, both rails combined I probably just *barely* hit 30amps. I figure my system at full bore probably draws a total of 350-360 watts, figure in the (in)efficiency of power supplies and that pretty much leaves me very little headroom.

I know it will run on my current PSU but I don't want to push my luck... I did that before (running a multirail PSU over the single rail amperage) and it cost me not only a blown PSU but a fried motherboard and graphics card (the ram survived)

Review at Newegg guy says he's running it off a 375w stock PSU in his Dell.

One of the big selling features of it is low power.

Those 375w Dell PSU's are 30amps on the 12v line
It could be done provided you don't have a lot in your system (though I wouldn't wanna try it)

It's okay though, I am gonna upgrade to a beefier supply and vid card soon and I don't mind. My current 480watt Antec is still running strong and will be going to a good home

You PC guys are like crack heads; never get enough

The last time I talked to you guys about PC components, I dropped about $300, played Crysis for about 6 hours, and haven't used my new GPU since.

For the sake of my wallet, I am leaving this thread now.

You gotta use it! Buy games for your PC. Haha.

By the way, that card if I remember right it was the 9800 GTX+, you can get for under $100 with rebates now.
