Yes. It lives up to the hype.
I don't know how to put it into words. Once you learn how to play it, it's just visceral. It's NOT a run-n-gun action game. It's a tactical shooter. You run out in the middle of shit, you die. The graphics, well, wow. Take a moment to look around. Every bullet feels like a damn bullet. The load screens ![]() ![]() ![]() The grenade cooking visual cue ![]() ![]()

I enjoyed everything about the demo there was to enjoy.
Graphics - amazing, probably the best console game I've seen to date. First thing my girlfriend said was "wow, it looks better than Metal Gear." Controls - solid, an incredible improvement over part 1. Now, I just need to become as capable with a controller as I am with a KB+M. Sound - I'm not huge on sound, but it sounded good too me. Considering it was only a demo, parts felt a little flat. I think I'll pick this game up on launch, a solid FPS exclusive for the PS3. |

Well here is my take after finally getting the demo downloaded and installed.
I was actually suprised at how short the demo was for as big as it is. I thought it would be a bit more than landing on there shore, blowing something up and making my way through a small warehouse. Although I won't complain to much since I finally got a chance to see if the hype was true. Yes it is ![]() As said before the graphics are top notch. It is amazing the amount of things going on the screen at once. Bullets flying every which way left me wondering where to shoot. I could tell this game is going to get slightly frustrating. After clearing out a section a few times I had to figure out where the hell I was supposed to go. I wish it had a map or indicator where the next objective is. The controls felt pretty good to me but will take a little to get used to. The aim felt a little off though. IE I'd have the crosshair on there head but I'd seem to miss a few shots. The AI is pretty good. I can't really comment on this compared to other titles since I don't play much single player. Numerous times I'd find myself aiming above where they just crouched only to find them pop up on the other side of what they were hiding behind. Also they seem to move throughout the battlefield fighting at you from multiple angles. Taking cover from a single point doesn't work to well. Because they will flank you from another corner of the map. I'm disappointed it didn't include a MP map. That would of added a lot of replay to the demo. And considering it expires on the 26th it wouldn't of hurt sales. I'll probably play through it a few more times to get the hang of the controls. I find myself using the Alternate 2 controls. I like to keep all the games I play similar control wise that way I'm not lost when playing another game. I'm really looking forward to the 27th now. BTW when you guys set up the brightness levels did you see the logo? I turned my TV onto sports mode with high contrast/brightness and cranked it up and still couldn't see the logo?

Just played through the demo twice(for now
).... so far, yes it certainly lives up to the hype, im not even going to say anything about the graphics! you damn well know its the best ever seen on a console to date, puts cod4, cod5 and even halo 3 to shame easily.the sounds was very very good, i was constantly hearing noise and bullets from my rear speakers, something that not even COD4 does that often, the music is freaking great! it has that orchestra feel to it. personally i think voice acting could have been a little better with the exception of the halgast leader which his voice is outstanding. regarding the voice, i found it very hard to hear my partners in battle, and yet the options volume in the game was at max(for sound and voice). the controls are great! feels better then that of the beta, i was getting pwn at first with everything at default, but once i went back into i went straight to the options>controls and THANK THE HEAVENS!!!!!!!!!! the devs added the option for "HOLD ON ZOOM" .. i immediately enabled this and BAMM! it was destroying the game, i also changed the control to type "Alt 2" and i increased the X and Y sensitivity to 3 clicks below max setting. it runs even better now! i did not think that you really had to use the cover system this much, WOW, it works so well though and gives the game alot more fun factor instead of the O' run and gun, its far from it. at first its alittle odd to take cover but after your 2nd and 3rd time through the demo you become like a pro already, the game is very easy to pick up and get right into it! @MATTIE yes the Alt 2 control type seems to be the best, also i suggest enabling the "hold on zoom" option. as far as figuring out where to go next, thats easy just press your "UP" on the D-pad HAHAAH.. i figured that one out, it'll point you to where your next objective is and where to go. i actually prefer no map, i even disabled the HUB and HOLY SHIT its truely amazing, not a single item or ANYTHIGN hovering my screen, just pure game! truely felt real. fuck you can even turn off the cross-hair! i also agree that the demo is very short, i heard it was short but goddam i didnt expect it to be this short, you land on the beach, fight some guys, blow something up, make your way to the next area, fight even more guys, get into the warhouse, fighting more and blow more stuff up and then make your way out the warhouse and thats were the demo ends, for some reason from the way the devs said it i thought the demo would be twice as long as this. first time through i was done in about 16mins, second time was like 10mins. however i think theres more to this demo then meets the eye, according to some sources even threespeech.com .. they are hinting that the demo has some kind of surprises instore for it so im just going to keep playing through the demo, maybe see if i do it in a faster time or get more headshots or something like that.. in terms of your brightness MATTIE, i suggest calibrating your TV .. the visual on my samsung is simply without words to describe, i didnt even have to adjust the games brightness level, i was able to barely see the logo, just perfect, but then again i got my HDTV fully calibrated.

My kid used a pseudo UK account and downloaded it. Says the graphics are superb, controls are responsive and customizable;to my favorite layout (CoD 4). Cover is a must, run and gun-you die. I'll be trying it tonight when I get home. Looks like Cygnus will have to find another hobby.

You almost have to use the cover system at certain points. I thought it was pretty easy to pick up as well. I might have to go back in and turn the sensitivity up also. Which is odd because most games I find myself turning it down. I only played through it once. Also suprised I didn't die. I came close in the warehouse where i got to deep into the action. The game does look like its going to involve some melee combat. I'd like to compare this to crysis but its hard to compare a game that is mainly a bright tropic Island to a dark overcast battlefield. It is defiantly the best graphics I've seen on a console though. I wonder how many HDF'ers will pick up PS3's for this game. I think this is there system seller right here.

I gave the demo a 3 time run through, it is a short demo that's for sure.
Graphics as expected are top notch for a console, no frame rate issues other than when it's saving/loading between levels there is a slight pause. Sound is killer (my wife came out and asked me if my hearing was ok )Enemy AI is good. They take cover, flank and try to flush you out of cover pretty well. From a reviewer I've talked to who has the review and retail copy (proven by pictures) the AI becomes incredibly harder on expert and elite levels (elite unlocks after you beat the game) Controls... There seems to be a slight delay between inputs and results, not game breaking at all, the best way I can describe it is "heavy". This is definitely not a twitch shooter, and it's gonna take people who are used to twitch shooters (namely: all of us) some time to get really used to it. I think in multiplayer the team with a lot of guns already facing the right direction will rack up kills. Crouch on L2 is kinda weird also. Still no 'real' complaints about controls, just some differences from other games. This is now a 'for sure' pre-order for me. Try turning off the full RGB setting on your ps3, sounds like black crush. |

hey, another note i wanted to add about the visuals that i forgot to mention, im not sure if its just me, my screen or what but do you guys also have dark spots on the 4 corners of your screen? after seeing many pics and ingame videos of this game level/demo i dont see the 4 dark spots on the corner but only on my screen?! i find it rather annoying and really wish it wasnt there, its almost as if the game screen had a opaque oval to it or something you know what i mean.
