Limited displays the color range 16-235.

Full displays 0-255.

If you set a full range out put to a limited range display, you'll get black crush AND white crush.

The display attempts to produce BTB and WTW (blacker than black, whiter than white) and since it's not equipped to, it just crushes the area surrounding the BTB and WTW area.

As Kam already tried to explain I'll put it in laymans terms for you: RGB full is for computer monitors, Limited is for TV's. Both systems use numbers to track colors so if you use a computers numbering method to display colors on a tv it get's all screwed up (will usually look really good in moderately lit scenes, but if it goes to a really dark or really bright scene you basically won't see shit)

Don't worry though you're not missing out on anything.

Some TVs accept full range, but they're far and few between.

Aren't those ones really just monitors with speakers bolted on? My buddy had one, a westinghouse if I remember correctly.

thats correct, a computer monitor like a 22" widescreen LCD monitor for example can display full color range and of course some monitors have a HDMI input so it works out ...
