Agreed, but it's not working on me. Since I do have a decent PC gaming rig I have a hard time justifying purchasing a 360 to play games that I, for the most part, can already play.

I hope the game is good too, I never played KZ one but I recall the hype train getting derailed. I also do not want to see either side dominating the market, otherwise people get lazy and we get a lot of crap.

Yep, big factor for the 360 grabbing games/ground quickly from launch. PS3 devs have had enough time, and have been given enough tools, so by now that it should only be slightly more difficult to develop/port to the ps3.... no more 'it's hard' excuses.
Though I think when it comes to multiplat games the 360 will always have a slight graphical advantage due to the hardware, the extra GPU memory for AA and the built in scaler seem to help a lot.

The review was fair, I'm not disputing that, though like I said most of these differences are negligible and the average person would not notice them unless they were pointed out.

And no I don't really buy into the 'only possible on' thing... there's really isn't too much that either console can do that the other can't. Both have their innate advantages: Pick your poison.

I'm as 'fair and balanced' as you are... I just happen to look from the other side of the fence is all

Games that shine for each console are first party games. Oh and lol @ whoever doesn't think the PS3 can run Gears 2.

Though I also thought that it appeared the 360 offered slightly more detail, I think from a gameplay standpoint it would be unnoticeable.

Look at all the recent postings in the game section here, 2 of the top 10 posts have to do with 360 vs. PS3, and a new one pops up almost weekly.

Such a waste that could be spent with these awesome games.

yup that's pretty much the big 3. it also seems sex should be up there these days. abortion and gay's being allowed to get married both fall under sex/religion.

for the record i have no problem with people being gay or haveing an abortion but mixing them together is just weird.

The main thing for me personally is, I remember the bad old days of trying to play online before xbox live came around.

MS deserves HUGE credit for that alone.

The PS3's cell processor as good as it is, is constantly being held back by the poor RSX in 2 ways.

1/ The RSX is slower than the Xenos in the 360 and takes alot more work to get the same image quality............. and often does not.

2/ The benefits of the Cell can never be realised if the cell constantly has to use its 'extra' resources to bail out the RSX and do gpu work instead of cpu and dsp work.

A perfect example occured earlier this year when a leading game dev was interviewed and was gushing about the untapped power of the cell and how new techniques were being employed which could see the cell proces textures like a beast (code speak for Cell doing the RSX's work). He went into the the fancy workarounds that could be used to significantly boot game performance or graphical quality or both. The PS3 fanboys were quite pleased and happily quoted the dev's words regarding its unused potential and bandied around the % figures given by the dev. They of course neglected to realise that these were programing routines being developed to get a around a serious performance impediment (RSX).

They also happily ignored a later part in the interview when the jounalist asked him what sort of performance they maight see if they tried the same with the 360. The dev then said that they had no need to do it because the 360's gpu was (is) a beast (relative) and because the 360 easily handled the code without any workarounds or CPU offsets.

Finally the RSx is based on the Geforce 7800 card and as such has some serious problems with image quality relative to ATI products like their X1000 line. So even in a game which performs quite well on the PS3 compared to the 360............... the 360 will still frequently have better image quality.

I wonder why Sony picked such a bad choice for the video rendering in the ps3.

My memory is a little hazy but I kind of remember Sony being coy about the specs of the RSX.

I haven't gotten a RROD yet (knock on wood) but I'm not what you would call a hardcore gamer. I hadn't used my 360 for a long time until Gears 2 came out.
But the graphics in that game are jaw dropping. The thing that REALLY got me was how the screen would shake and rattle (and roll lol) when all kinds of crazy things were happening, but the framerate NEVER faltered.

I've played MLB the show for 6 months on the ps3 (LOVE that game too) and it had frame rate issues in a baseball game. Not really a big deal - it didn't make the game less fun - but I was VERY impressed by the smooth rates of gears 2.

The only thing about the 360 that sucks (imo) is the RROD issue. I've been lucky enough not to have it happen to me tho yet.

So when the ps3 has been out for 5 years and the graphics are KZ demo quality (hopefully) then MS will come out with the xbox 720 and be equal to Sony AGAIN.
That won't stop the fanboys from going bonkers, tho.

It's funny I got caught up in the Cell hype back then and I saw that Carmack interview where he said the 360 was a better console to work with and I thought "yeah right, bs".
The guy knew what he was talking about, huh?
