NBA Live vs. 2K 09

Ok guys, now that im sure you guys have a chance to play the games and stuff and hear reviews, which game is better than that other overall? I havent bought either yet and trying to determine which one im gona lean toward.

depends on what type of basketball you are looking to play. Live is way more arcade like style. it's gotten a little better but still it's no sim. if you're looking for sim basketball and tough defense then 2k should be better for you. it's not perfect and could use some improvments but 2K has been very active on their message boards and seem to be taking issues into account for their up coming patch. online play is kind of horriable with 2k. this is the reason 2k is taking longer with their patch. I believe the whole online aspect is getting done over.

if you are a franchise player then this is a no contest. 2k has one of the best franchises i have seen in a basketball game in years. interactive messages from NBA.com. your main page with the franchise is like an online NBA.com message page. you can click on each headlines and check out something that goes with the news. Live has the same feature but it's not interactive. this year you can edit rookies throughout the season. so lets say you pay attention to college basketball and would love some certain players in your NBA draft. well you can edit some random CPU made up guy into that player. you can't change the likeness or weight but you can pretty much edit everything else including sneakers and ratings.

also check out this site as they compare 2k to live from 2 differnt points of views. both reviewers came away saying 2k is for sure the better overall game.

I buy NBA2k every year since like 2k3.. this is the first year I haven't bought a bball game since I can remember.. I would say neither are really up to par.. if you wanna play online, might as well get live since 2k is broken.
If you don't care about online get 2k since it has better graphics, physics, and motions/fluidity.

Both demos are available on XBL.

don't give up on 2k just yet eck. like i said 2k devs have been active on the 2k boards and are hinting that this game is getting a huge patch and online makeover. they keep saying it's coming and taking suggestions through a sticky that have at the top of every sub section. they are responding to the messages so it's clear they are activly listening to their fan base.

at first they were not but i posted a message on their boards calling out their devs and how little they respond to people on their boards. i pointed out how EA was stepping up their online support by having devs on the forums and activly listening to forum members and working with them to fix games. i told some of the devs that come to the 2k boards once in a great while about this new EA policy that seemed to take effect with madden and has carried over to NBA live.

i got a response from the devs and online modds saying i was right and suddenly devs were all over the boards. just the fact that they were willing to listen and make a change gives me great confidence that 2k is now listening. their current stickies at the top of every page show me they want to improve that game and it's only a matter of time.

BTW gamefly.com has 2k9 for $49.00 and i'm pretty sure the shipping is free.

Well, once it gets ironed out I'll probably pick it up. Since bball started I've been kind of itching to play, but it'd be a waste of $$ right now.. hopefully by the time they fix it the price will have gone down
