Not as big as getting on-board DTS HD MA decoding, but still sounds like good stuff!

Ohh I have been waiting on that feature forever, auto turning off your controller.. I swear you woulda thought that shoulda been implemented since day 1, I have killed my controller on many occasions accidently leaving it on while downloading stuff or just watching a movie..

Background downloads are another big plus as well, next all we need is auto recharge like the 360 does with its wireless controllers and the plug and play adapter.. If your battery is dead and your controller is hooked up to the plug and play, once you shut down the console it will continue to charge your controller till its done and than the 360 shuts itself down(its actually in a sleep mode and not fully on while doing this).. The PS3 needs that feature next

This is a really good point, the USB slots need to be left Hot while recharging a controller.

But I want to clarify, we have had background downloading for a while, but this is the first time we've had the opportunity to background download and then have the system shut itself off when it's done. The article stated that it will also do this when installing something. Hopefully you can queue up multiple installs and then shut down the system after that's done also. It's very annoying to have to sit through and wait for the friggin' downloads to install one by one.

I dont know if this was added but the last update I did, it did not make me download and than install, it did it all in one shot..

I really hate to download a file and than if I happen to forget to click off on the install, I than have to wait for friggin ever to install it while I sit there watching it..

Yea the USB function needs to be handled a little better, but after these few gripes I think its gonna make the experience that much better for PS3 owners

Which FW do you have?? I just downloaded 4 things from the PS store. They're all still sitting there waiting to be installed. If I weren't afraid of the 360 ringing out, I'd let the PS3 do the installs, and play something on my 360 at the same time. I'm just worried the extra heat out from the PS3 would cause the 360 to choke.

one of the big features for me is the auto shut off of the controller.. like all of us, i've had countless of times where i start a game and sometimes pause it and have to set away for 20mins or more to attend to the kids for something. i end up losing alot of battery time on the controller. thank heavens we finally get the option to auto shut off controller after X amount of time. theres alot of other plus feature i like.

theres only one way to be able to download something without it installing automatically and thats sitting it in the background downloading. whatever you put as "download in background" it will not install even after the download is finish, it will only install when you go to it and install it.

the only time you will get something to install automatically right after downloading is if YOU DO NOT select "download in background" in which case the status screen comes up showing the download progress bar and in the background you will see the PS store. when this happens the install occurs right after the download is finish.

Ah. That's why. I NEVER download without sending it to the background. Letting the thing download then install would mean twice as much time just sitting there watching a progress bar. No thanks!

This explains why it auto installed for me, that is a good bit of info Eddie and one I bet not a lot of people know about..

Apparently Flash9 video support will also be included in the next update, which is great! And I too am liking the power saving options, it really needs them.

Finally, auto shut-off for the controllers and the PS3 I've been waiting for this forever. I can't tell you how many times I've left my controllers on or had to download stuff overnight and not be able to turn it off until the next morning.

We still need a Sleep Mode though...

I'll chip in $5 if you promise to buy R2, KZ2, and RE5 on day one.
