Default NBA Live 365 feature not free...........

yup for those who are still considering NBA live then you need to know that the 365 feature is $19.99 for the year. nope it's not free.

the download is already up in the PSN.

also NBA 2K9 has a similar feature and it's FREE. not only that but the reviews have already named NBA 2K9 the better basketball game, AGAIN.

kind of makes me wonder why so many reviews are being held back for NBA Live while NBA 2K9 already has quite a few reviews already up.

I saw the commercial for this yesterday and I dont recall them stating that there was a fee for this... Its not like I would ever buy any BBall sim other than the 2K series but still that is ridiculous!!

From PastaPadre.com

NBA Live 365

This is the big advertised feature and it really looks to be a significant innovation. It is free this year with the code included in the case of all new copies. Recently this has been a hot topic as to how they are charging for the download of 365 for anyone without a code. This is basically a way to encourage new sales as opposed to used ones which EA would make no money off of. Going forward by doing so they’ve planted the seed of this being a premium feature so they can charge for it outright if they find that consumers value it that much.
One thing to mention is that even if someone doesn’t have 365, any and all online games use the latest data. It would just be offline that they wouldn’t have access to it.

guess i jumped the gun on the early info. still for them to charge 20 if you don't have the code is pretty lame. My best bet is they are trying to get the label of most selling bball game because they can't get best rated game.

leave it to EA to try and screw it up for gamers who loves these types of games but simply don't have the cash to buy them new. to me that's turning their back on a ton of possiable sales. i hope 2K dominates them in sales because if that happens then their plan has backfired.

This is a way EA can boost annual sales. This reminds me when there was once competition with NFL game: 2K gave annual roster updates for free but EA wanted gamers to buy the latest madden.

You only have to pay if you buy a used game.

If you're gonna buy a used 360 game you might as well pirate it from a torrent site. Either way, the devs aren't seeing a penny, and with a pirated version you're not lining the pockets of EvilStop.

I have read several articles about devs dreaming up schemes to kill the used game market. That is the reason why burnout paradise released free levels so late after release. GOW2 is going to have free downloadable rehashed GOW levels at launch.

I tell you something that'd encourage people to buy new rather than second hand. Adjusting the pricing a bit. de Blob I purchased in a heartbeat when I saw it was £17.97 new on a few sites. If they did Wii games new for £25 and 360/PS3 stuff for £35 new as opposed to £40 and £50. I think they'd see a lot more people willing to shell out on day 1 for stuff, maybe even just do a lower RRP on the release week or something.
