Y'all, my new TV was delivered yesterday. 50" of Panasonic Plasma greatness. I had no idea things could look this good. I've been watching and playing on an old RP CRT by Samsung with a bad convergence board. But honestly, I had no idea how bad the board was. I could not believe it when I brought up COD4, and saw that there was actually a little compass at the top of the HUD. I had no idea.

Last night we watched Superbad on BD. Stupid as crack movie, but damn it sho was purty.

I'm planning on going with a Panasonic for my next Plasma, unless i can find a Pioneer for a steal..

Once you go Plasma its hard to look back.. I love the realism in regards to the color palette, skin tones, grass and the ocean (watch into the blue on BR) look great plus the detail you get from the contrast Plasma's offer are just awesome..

Hey Aaron, how's the lag on that thing? When I went from CRT to plasma, COD4 became almost unplayable. I'm using the Game Mode, too. Guitar Hero 3 is also virtually unplayable. I've been holding off on Rock Band and Singstar for that reason and it's killing me.

I have heard of phosphor lag but that was only in tier 2 sets and below, I had no idea it was common in tier 1 sets like a Panny or Pioneer..

I guess its possible but I think it would also depend on how you have your console hooked up, I mean if it goes through a switcher into an avr into a TV that could be it, but I would think with how well Plasma's handle fast moving content if hooked up directly you could not even tell..

Honestly, I didn't notice any difference in game speed. And it's going from PS3 to new Onkyo 606 (mind blowing good sound on my speakers with the Audyssy setup BTW), to Panny. I thought the lag was only on LCD screens. I didn't realize there was one on the plasmas too.

I will say I got somewhat disoriented due to the new size. We went from 42" to 50". I didn't think it would be that big of a difference. And everything is JUST SO DAMN SHARP!!! I actually had to turn the sharpness down on the set. It was too much. The CRT had a very "soft" look to it. HD stuff looked good, but I didn't realize how soft it was. HD looks crystal clean now.

Short of a trip to an all inclusive in Mexico, this is the best money I've ever spent.

I think it was because of how my old set handled 720p stuff. I think it overscanned and scaled it.

I guess I just thought it was a little too over the top. It probably had something to do with the fact that it was an unrated version. I'm no prude by any means, but seriously. Seemed like every other word was the f-bomb. I don't mind cussing. I don't mind the f-bomb. I just don't think it needed to be THAT prolific. Then again, maybe thoughts how kids talk now-a-days.

I will admit did have some genuinely funny moments. I think my favorite was when McLovin was getting "escorted" by the cops.

Yeah, at first I didn't believe it. I was getting killed ALOT more in COD4 but I chalked it up to having rusty skills after not having played for awhile and one day I try out Guitar Hero and damn, it is lagging quite a bit. HDMI running straight from the PS3 to the set. I even tried downscaling the output to 720p and running GAME MODE on the display but nothing helps... noticeably anyways. It's funny because I paid a shitload for it and it's supposed to be the best plasma out there next to its sister Pioneer Elite model.

Yeah, the cop scenes were the best part of the movie. The party scene is pretty funny, too.

Is your new tv much bigger than the old crt?

I had this same problem with Hot Shots Golf. It has a 3 click hit meter bar. Click to start, click to set power, then on its way back click to set the impact.

On my newer, bigger tv, it "seemed" to lag very much; I could never hit the impact because the meter bar thingy seemed to go way faster, but in reality it goes the same speed, it just appears faster because it's over a greater distance (bigger tv )

The funniest part is.. if you think about it.. that one just 1 single day in those kids lives. That makes it even funnier, because so much crap happened to them over the course over 24 hrs.
