To each their own. I didn't expect many to be a huge fan of it because of how vulgar and immature of a movie it was. Stuff like that still cracks me up though.

Plasmas pwn any other HD display device.
LCDs are for computers, not movies or console games. DLPs are for poor people. Projectors though, I can get into. |

Funny enough, the best part is with just a few tweaks, it's already looking amazing. I got the DVE BD calibration disc and ran through it last night. The color was already spot on. The only thing that had to be changed was the overscan setting (off), then turn the sharpness and brightness down.
I'm literally floored at how good it looks. Seriously. Add that to the Audyssey calibrated speakers, and I've got one hell of a setup now. My speakers are an old set of Polk RM's. I always thought they used to sound a bit, well, "shallow". They sound amazing now. We just got Accross the Universe on BD. Can't wait to watch it tonight! |

those who say breakin periods are BS have never seen what a benifit doing it can be. i did it for a period with my Pioneer plasma and i have seen a nice improvment in the picture over time. but i know as with all plasma and CRT's that improvment will go the opposite way one day. as for calibrating it maybe just try a basic THX calibrating disk. it's a little weak but i have used it to calibrate some tv's of friends and they have all thanked me after seeing the improvment. remember only use the settings you get from a calibration disk as a starting point and not as a reference. the THX calibration disk can be found on many THX certified movies like Monsters inc, star wars, the recruit, ect... or if you really want to go all out you can pay a calibrator to do it but that will cost about 250-500 depending on how much you want done.

my girl took me to the strip club a few new years ago. well it ended up being a bottoms don't come off strip club. well the stripper was all over me and my wife was laughing. i'm all confused and as the stripper walks away my wife and cousin turns to me and says "you didn't notice?". at this point i'm all confused and my wife and cousin point out this chick not only has a tampon string sticking out but she also has red dots all over her crotch. this chick is running around giving lap dances with period stains on her crotch. this rich dude just got his lap dance and my cousin turns to him and says "hey man you're pants are have champaign on them or something", the guy turns around after checking the stain with his hand and oh yeah you know what it was. dude was like 75 years old in a business suite and a wad of cash walking around handing out 100's to the strippers. he didn't give a dam there was this huge red stain on his crotch. strippers didn't seem to mind as long as he was handing out 100's like they were 1's.

LCD's can be nice if you buy a high end one. sure a high end plasma will thrash a high end LCD but LCD is making ground quickly. led is taking over LCD and samsung's led LCD has gotten great reviews, well the pioneer Kuro killed it but we're talking a nice price gap here. i never liked DLP's. so many people jumped all over DLP when it first came out saying how it was a LcOs/plasma/LCD killer. well what the hell happened there. it's been so long since DLP mattered that i forgot what DLP stands for. projectors are cool and a high end projector will kill even plasma. to bad we are starting to get into the new car price range. if my tv viewing is going to cost me 20k then i might as well spend 40k on speakers and that's not going to happen unless i hit the lottery. if i ever get that 4k projector then you guy will all be invited over for a couple matches of COD4 or 5, BYOB/puff puff pass is my policy though. i can't wait to see the ultra high end LCD's on the way. when we start talking double 1080p and upconverting to 120fps with infinate contrast ratio then it's a whole new ball game. don't laugh it's already been done. now all we need is those fackers to release the dam tv in the US with the backing of a major distributor. maybe they will go the Vizio route and blowout the online advertisments and send a demo to every online review site in the world. hell i'm for that if it will keep the cost down and the quality up.

it does make the picture look crazy real but also gives a odd feeling like the movie is in fast forward. whatever tv you do upgrade to try to get one with a 120fps option. it's killer for gaming.

ah man, my parents 32" CRT has the double scan thing, makes 30fps games look like they're running at 60fps and looks awesome, until it cocks up and suddenly you get mega bad stutter and stuff.

Then I popped in the DVE BD calibration disc. After lots of blah, blah, blah and yada, yada, yada, it looks AMAZING. And I limit my gaming to small time sessions of an hour or less. Then watch some TV, then switch games, then TV, etc rinse and repeat. TV is also only limited to the HD channels or stretched content for the next month. The good thing is it's got the pixel orbiting technology so that should help some. |

I had a similar epiphany when I went from 47" rproj. to 100'' screen with proj. And Superbad on Blu-ray is awesome !! It is one of the moronic comedys that for some reason made me laugh my ass off. (Probably has a lot to do with being a big fan of arrested devolpment then seeing Michael Cera again).
