Default I want my PC Gaming on my TV!

OK, I'm getting old, and quite frankly, I'm tired of sitting in a metal chair to play my computer games.

I want to get my system setup so I can sit in my LazyBoy Recliner, and play not only my XBOX Console Games, but also my Computer Games. I tried to set this up a long time ago by connecting the computer through the SVideo ports on my Video Card and my HDTV, but as many of you laughing now know, that sucked!

So, let's say I have $1,500 to accomplish this feat. What TV should I get, what Video Card should I get, and remember, I want to be able to play my XBOX on HDTV still too

Any and all serious suggestions will be taken into consideration and I will be more then happy to buy you a few beers if you are ever in the Kansas City, Missouri area if your suggestion is the one I use and it works!

Be gentle on me friends, I'm a newbie and don't rightly understand all those weird TECHIE Terms when you talk about HDTV to Computer conversion processes!

Thanks!

Many HDTV's today have VGA inputs on them. This allows your to hook up your computer to your TV like you would a computer monitor.

One thing you do need to keep in mind, plasma and rear projection CRT TV's do have burn in problems ie an image displayed in the same place for a long period of time will leave a ghost image on the screen.

This was one of my main reasons for going with a DLP system, that and the great picture.

not to be rude, but i think that is wrong. most hdtvs have dvi ports.

so, i would recommend that you get a television with that DVI port, a video card with a DVI port (if your willing to spend the money, get the higher end nvidia cards like the 6600 or the high end ati like the x800). those cards probably go for about $300 a piece. plus you can get an hdtv with the dvi for about $1000.
here is an hdtv with the built in tuner and dvi:

its not the best, but should do the job.

also, if you get the ati cards, you can buy a dvi to YBr or whatever it is converter. that way, you can get a larger hdtv and still play games on it.

TVs which are 'Multimedia' models are more PC friendly, and often add a VGA input to all the other standard inputs. VGA is easier to use, since it's NOT copy protected, and quality is just as good. Of particular use with PC & Gameboxes is the ability to alter overscan, which is standard for TVs. Monitors are usually underscan. Samsung & Panasonic are good for this...

As for graphics card, one option would be the eVGA 6600GT & 6800GT which have HD Component outputs. The 6600GT has an MSRP of $249, but is heavily discounted at many stores.

Progressive scan, 720p/60 display is strongly recommended... but will probably push your budget up a couple hundred... go see what the smallest Sony LCD RPTV and smallest DLP RPTV cost... sized in the low 40"s... LCD flat panels in the 30 - 32" range would also be options.

Interlaced sets like the one Sonicularus linked are not recommended... they're interlaced & burnable... and WAY too small for viewing from your La-z-boy. My La-z-boy is about 6 - 8' from my 50" DLP... to which my HTPC is connected by VGA cable. I use an Intel wireless KB & mouse...
