Default Alone in the Dark PS3 version delay explained

OUCH!!.. talk about a low blow.. its being delayed because its not "performing" as well as they want it in terms of framerate and what not.. that bites.. stupid devs

Alone in the Dark's Senior Producer has said that the reason why the PlayStation 3 version of the upcoming Survival Horror title will arrive later than its Xbox 360 counterpart is due to the fact the game is "not performing" as well as expected.

Speaking with Videogamer.com, Atari’s Nour Polloni commented, “There's no firm date yet but what we can say is that it's coming out this year. In terms of why it's coming out later, we have the full game running on PS3 and all the features, no problem. The thing is it's not performing as well on PS3 as we hope it is in terms of frame rate and all that.”

“We didn't want it to come out and have less of an experience for the PS3 gamer. We wanted to tweak that up and make sure they get the best experience on PS3 as much as possible,” added Polloni.

Polloni also commented on the hardships faced with multiformat development, noting, "It's not hard if you do a PS3 specific game. It's hard when you try to have it global multi-platform. That's when it's hard."

In this case, developer Eden Games initially started on the PC version of the game, before working on the Xbox 360 release, and finally, the PS3.

She also noted that the PS3 version would contain “the same content" as its Xbox 360 counterpart.

Stay tuned.
so the game started on PC, then moved to 360 and then finally PS3.. that would probably explain it too... im sure developing games on PC is about the same as 360 but then comes the ps3 with a whole different type of stuff in the plate.

Oh my

Eden Games...I think they were responsible for Test Drive Unlimited (360/PC/PS2/PSP). Ambitious game, just needed a bigger budget.

They did indeed, a very talented studio, they were also responsible for the V-Rally series on PS1 and PS2.

Ha!

Keep in mind, I own a PS3. I will stick up for it and defend it if and when it deserves defending and sticking up for. For example, I often say that the PS3 exclusively has the best action game on any next gen console: Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Unfortunately for the PS3, that game is an original Xbox port.

Yes, definitely. I didn't mean to downplay Ninja Gaiden Sigma; I do think its the best action game available, (until next tuesday when NG2 comes out) and it does look beautiful on the PS3.
